Finally a software deployment tool that just works
Opmerkingen:
We had a very successful POC which showed how much time we would be saving using their platform.
Automox can automatically deploy patches endpoints need for OS or third-party applications.
I'm also very excited about the features they will be adding to their platform.
Pluspunten:
I love how responsive the product is for being agent-based. Multi-platform support makes it easy to use one product for your patching and software deployment needs. Automatic scanning which uncovers which patches are needed for installed applications/OS. Their live dashboard makes it easy to determine the level of compliance. Their built-in live chat makes it easy to connect with Support to resolve issues.
Minpunten:
Their current reporting makes for troubleshooting deployment issues difficult sometimes but their support is top-notch and I've been told this is being addressed as is on their roadmap.

Did not work correctly.
Opmerkingen: Could not get this to work effectively even on just two windows servers, contacted support and got an initial response but nothing more. Looks nice and would be a good solution if it worked, it just seems unfinished and flaky. I suspect you need to enable a firewall rule for 3rd party updates to work ( suspect the same for Linux) .
Pluspunten:
Looks nice, works fine with Linux ( as long as firewall is set up) fairly simple setup.
Minpunten:
Did not pick up that our 2008 test machine had not patched in 2 years. Did not show all the "Supported" 3rd party software. No Logs. Did not have any info on updates not applying. Policies did not seem to apply correctly. Still requires WSUS( or risk using online windows updates which kill bandwidth) No Linux Onsite Cache
Automox: Saves you a patching headache...or three
Opmerkingen: Overall, Automox has been a positive addition to our environment. It has made patching our Windows environment much more reliable. Not only this, but we can push out software and scripts to computers with a high speed. We can schedule a deployment or push it on demand within seconds or minutes.
Pluspunten:
Automox is very easy to setup and work with. It is easy to set up groups, add devices to groups, and set up policies to patch your devices. Before Automox, I didn't have any experience with Patch Management software, but I was able to quickly jump into Automox and start creating policies to meet our needs. Automox's support is helpful and gets back to you very quickly. I've had to reach out to support a few times over the past year and they've been helpful. Also, they have a community that the developers and employees frequently monitor where you can ask questions and engage with other Automox users.
Minpunten:
Automox has some limitations. Unfortunately, some output is limited. For example, when a computer is in process of updating you won't always see the exact percentage or updates it is currently working on. This can cause some confusion and can make it harder to see if theres a certain update getting stuck. I also would love to see a way to stop any sent instructions to an endpoint from our end. If I send a script that seems to error out or glitch out during testing, there is a chance that the device's status may get stuck in the "Pending Update" status until the next day when Automox automatically flushes it out. In Summary, Some of Automox's output or status visibility could be improved. The ability to stop a scan or script from finishing would also be ideal if possible.
Automox for System updates and PowerShell Scrips just works
Opmerkingen: I've been using Automox for over 3 years, and for the most part, they have been a lifesaver. We use it to perform weekly software and Microsoft Windows updates, to push out new or updated versions of software, and to occasionaly run PowerShell scripts on machines. It works great when we use it like this, and Automox provides some great training (which I highly reccommend taking) to help you figure out the platform, give you some shortcuts, and assist with the reasons the platform behaves the way it does.
Pluspunten:
Super easy to get initial set up completed. If you need additional ways to update or install software, or to make changes to a system, there are a ton of prewritten worklets to get you going.
Minpunten:
Automox doesn't work natively in a 64 bit environment, so you need to call the WOW6432Node to make scripts work.
A must have for any organization.
Opmerkingen: Had a demo with the company and then after the demo we decided to go full fledge and commit to it. We have a dedicated sales rep that is very attentive and always checks in with us. Deployment was a breeze and setup for machines was also a breeze. Auto install and deployment for large networks makes it so simple to use.
Pluspunten:
The ability to patch all PCs and servers in your fleet with ease of mind that it is all handled. The other major upside is the remote connection system that allows you to remote connect to machines.
Minpunten:
Occasionally it is down for some reason or another since deploying our automox system we have have I think about 4 instances where it has been down in a matter of a 1 year period so honestly not bad at all.
Automox is a must for your IT environment
Opmerkingen: I would say automox has been a very useful tool and puts a majority of key functions all in one place. I highly recommend this to people in IT.
Pluspunten:
I like how easy it is to manage all of the computers we have in the office all in one place. It makes it easy to keep track of updates or software that needs to be pushed out for end users.
Minpunten:
The thing that bothers me most about automox is how long it can take for device info to sync in the portal. Sometimes it can take up to 15 minutes for just 1 device.

Remote assist feature works but does have drawbacks. Depending on the internet connection the destination device is on.

Amazing tool
Opmerkingen: I couldn't see us ever not using it. we have offices situated around the world and now with home users it gives us a central control platfrom to update, deploy and amend devices regardless of their locations.
Pluspunten:
Being able to patch any machine and pretty much any app from anywhere, what isn't there to like as an IT admin. We previously used SCCM and that always depended on VPN or being on a network or when the schedule was, which meant our machines were always out of date. With Automox we don't have that issue. Also we can deploy apps and config to devices more efficiently than even SCCM or Autopilot.
Minpunten:
The remote access component could be a great integration, but we haven't found it reliable.

Opmerkingen: Support team is awesome and fast to respond. Customer care team is good on checking in and making sure you have what you need. Fairly informative on new features and downtimes are next to nothing with Automox.
Pluspunten:
I like that the time the time to implement Automox and how easy it is to use was the biggest pro to Automox. Within 4 hours I had our entire server environment ready to patch and get caught up after our last patching solution had been pulled for over 4 months.
Minpunten:
Only hard part with Automox is writing worklets and understanding how it works and what permissions the agent has to the machine to make registry changes or deploying non standard software to the machine.

Easy to use, easy to deploy, patch everything on your laptops. Create worklets to do anything on your machines. No matter where they are or where you are.This application helped to reduce vulnerabilities on our estate from 10,000's to 100's. we were using SCCM but would never leave Automox now.Great support and really well priced.
Minpunten:
They have a new feature for remote access that was good, it uses VNC. only issue was you could only connect to one machine at a time. No IT person only connects to one machine at a time! so if they can change it to multiple machines then I might be interested in taking that option.

Excellent patch management tool, that needs better dashboards and integrations.
Opmerkingen: It's been a blessing, especially now all our workers are allowed to work remotely as much as they like. Without it, we'd have a real problem managing patches and enforcing certain system settings that used to require a VPN connection (sometimes rarely connected) or being in the office.
Pluspunten:
It's really easy to use and configure, which is great when you're a small team with a limited budget, but the thing I love most is that it's cross-platform, so we don't need 3 or 4 tools, scripts, or manual updates to manage all different Operating Systems and applications we use.
Minpunten:
The dashboard is, well, pretty ugly, and doesn't really offer any customisation. I'd love to see UI update and custom charts based off search criteria.

Pluspunten:
Windows Updates were our only priority when finding a solution, but once I realized the potential of what they had on their roadmap... I was hooked. Windows Updates/Software Patch Management/Custom policies/Reporting/Live dashboard.... It is a hefty tool that I plan to take advantage of as long as possible. They're always improving and adding features, and they take customer feedback very seriously. I've seen features fixed/updated or even features I've suggested on their roadmap within a week of discussing.

Originally, dashboard performance was hit/miss. It has improved a lot since then, and they're still working on further improving performance.
