Very Expensive, especially compared to open source alternatives Likes to install Cumulative Updates and take down databases at random times

Opmerkingen: I do believe that Microsoft has improved dramatically the performance and features of MS-SQL Server in the last decade but still many performance tuning on the algorithmic level (especially in concurrency support) has to be targetted.
Pluspunten:
I mostly like the integration features that Microsoft worked on hardly to make its Visual Studio IDE seamlessly integrating MS-SQL Server which makes the development process really streamlined and rapid whether using C#.NET, VB.NET, or the Web ASP.NET. The common language platform features in .NET leverages the RDBMS capabilities of MS SQL Server in development and production environments.
Minpunten:
The performance of MS-SQL Server lags with concurrent user access. Concurrency support has to be worked on to better compete with industry leading RDBMSes such as Oracle and DB2. Even MySQL can surpass the performance of MS-SQL Server in many concurrency management configurations.

Opmerkingen: SQL server is a critical tool for retrieving storing and editing databases and tables. The query editor is useful to write custom queries and preview the results

All databases stored in sql server can be easily accessed in other systems such as powerbi and excel with your existing account credentials and just by providing database and table names
Minpunten:
The learning curve for complex query is quite high without basic knowledge of SQL language it is quite hard to write queries
