Essential Documentation Tool

Opmerkingen: I love Snagit as a documentation, note-taking, and collaboration tool. It enables me to effectively communicate with coworkers with clear, visible screenshots and videos, allows me to be better about documenting processes, and allows for me to retain a backup of notes and screenshots for professional use.

Pluspunten:

I enjoy the ability to seamlessly use keybinds to quickly capture images. The built in tools allow me to mark up and create excellent, professional documentation.

Minpunten:

I dislike that I am unable to add text to videos natively.

Great software for normal humans

Opmerkingen: After almost four years I find I use it pretty much on a daily business to prep or capture web images fo a variety of sites.

Pluspunten:

Easy to use, easy to learn and very stable.

Minpunten:

No real weaknesses unless you think it's going to replace Photoshop.

Lightweight, affordable tool for image manipulation and screen recording

Opmerkingen: I've been using Snagit for so long, I've gotten to where I can quickly make small changes to images for mockups. It serves my purpose, but I feel like in the long-term, it's not the most efficient tool if I need to make changes to those mockups over time. But I do like the quick and easy video recording functionality too.

Pluspunten:

It's an affordable, lightweight, and easy-to-use tool to manipulate images. I use this for creating super fast mockups of small changes to web pages that I want to run an A/B test on. I also use it to record videos for my developers when I feel like I can explain myself better in a video than a written message.

Minpunten:

There's no version history. Once I save an image, it's locked down. So if I want to change something later, I need to overwrite the most recent version. And the fonts are outdated and limited. Most of the time, I can't match the fonts that are on a webpage.

Was good now terrable

Opmerkingen: Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! When You need the program, it stuffs up at the worst possible time

Pluspunten:

The old versions were great, but the new ones have some sort of bug in them and don't work

Minpunten:

I can't get it to last more than a few captures before it stuffs up. And I have to reload the program. The capture goes into the editor as a thumbnail but does not go onto the main screen The help desk people a hopeless

Ugh... why pay for this

Opmerkingen: for very basic simple things, that Windows itself can also do, it is OK.

Pluspunten:

It works - mostly. The annotating is OK.

Minpunten:

Large images and the "scroll" captures are buggy at best and take forever and then fail. Also cannot easily change an image type, for example when trying to capture a "WEBP image"

SnagIt - Worthy Screen Capture Application

Opmerkingen: Faithfully put to use since I discovered it 15 yrs ago

Pluspunten:

Ease of use. Quick & readily available with the setting that allows for the widget.

Minpunten:

Older captures have been difficult to manage; in the event of a system restore, the approach to retain these back-up files is not clean. I've lost many a capture.

The best in screen capture software.

Opmerkingen: Excellent. A++++++ I'm a power user and have brought this product to many companies and organizations. I use it professionally and personally.

Pluspunten:

Ease of use and available screen capture options within quick reach. My go-to for screen capture as a professional and for me personally. Using for over 20 years.

Minpunten:

Sometimes the many features I can't remember or use because I forget they have them.

SnagIt review

Opmerkingen: As an auditor, I use it a lot to capture evidence.

Pluspunten:

easy to capture screens, rolling screens, video capture.

Minpunten:

Limited number of screens before they move it to history, not very easy to be recalled from history

Pluspunten:

Being able to record meetings and take screenshots of the presenter's screen has been a major improvement for our team when we perform walkthroughs.

Minpunten:

With the screenshots, you are not able to increase the size of the picture, there is also a lag time when initiating screenshots and video. The video is not able to recognize when you last stop if you close the window.

Snagit - Great Tool With A Small Learning Curve

Opmerkingen: Overall, I like Snagit and its functionality. It took some getting used to via trial and error, but overall, it has been handy.

Pluspunten:

Intuitive, simple, and very easy to use. Snagit has a very secure and easy-to-use interface that allows me to capture screen images easily, and its library of call-out boxes makes it easy to highlight items.

Minpunten:

While the tool is simple to use, it has limitations in what it can do, and not everything is intuitive. For example, it can capture an entire website via a scrolling screen grab, but that takes a bit of thinking to accomplish, and the Reference/How To material does not describe all of its capabilities.

I'll never go back.

Opmerkingen: I've loved it from day 1. And I think the new features they've rolled out have actually been worth the upgrade price.

Pluspunten:

Snagit has saved me SO much time in not having to have a conversation or write out instructions in more detail. People are generally visual in my industry so it really helps to give them an accurate idea of what I'm trying to get them to understand or do.

Minpunten:

I think my only gripe is probably just that extra split second that it takes for it to intercept the screenshot from MacOS's basic screenshot solution/key command. I am screenshotting ALL DAY every day, so that extra hesitation where it takes an extra beat to show up is literally my only gripe. And it's a small one.

Great tool but lacks important file management functions

Opmerkingen: I was lookng for a replacement of Skitch. I'm not entirely satisfied, specially with the impossibility to import PDF to Snagit and edit it before re-export (Skitch does it); I also am frustated by the file management: no sub-albums to organize my stuff, tag management is bad...

Pluspunten:

The multi-functions it proposes: video capture, screenshots, etc..

Minpunten:

I would like sub-albums to group shots instead of relying on ust tags. title and tag editing are a pain and can't be done on every instance: full size and thumbnail. Want some albums to sub-organize my stuff: tags is not an easy way to do it bevause in the timelinae, they are not always adjacent. Seems loke an obvisous function for heavy users. Can not manage PDF like Skitch: can't drag a PDF to Snzgot and edit it before re-export.

Grabit to Snagit

Opmerkingen: It has been a fantastic experience that keeps getting better as TechSmith keeps improving Snagit. I'm waiting for the introduction of AI into the application. :D

Pluspunten:

I've been using Snagit for many years and it is now a main tool for capturing screen images and videos. My favorite functionality is panoramic screen capturing and now the scrolling capture functionality. It's awesome!

Minpunten:

Every once and a while I'll have an issue with capturing. I recently had an issue that prevented me from doing panoramic/scrolling captures. Somehow my settings changed and I had to reset permissions to fix it. All good now.

My number 1 tool!

Opmerkingen: This is by far my favorite software tool. I use it in every aspect of my job. I use it to quickly explain to others, capture configuration details, and produce technical documentation. I have purchased it to use on my personal computer as well.

Pluspunten:

Snagit makes taking rapid screenshots easy and you can quickly mark them up as needed. I also find it very valuable how you can go through your library of screenshots to easily find old screenshots by app, website or other contexts.

Minpunten:

Depending on how your endpoints are deployed there can be some effort involved in setting up so the snagit library is synced properly.

Snagging my way through the day-to-day

Opmerkingen: Snagit has been a amazing experience for me. It's user-friendly, loaded with advanced features, and highly customizable, which makes it a powerful tool in my arsenal. Even though the wealth of options could be overwhelming, the clear and detailed documentation from TechSmith makes it easy to navigate and leverage these functionalities to streamline my daily tasks. Best of all, I haven't found any drawbacks—it truly delivers on its promises and is as well-developed as advertised.

Pluspunten:

The product is user-friendly, packed with advanced features, and highly customizable. Although the abundance of options can be overwhelming, TechSmith's detailed and clear documentation effectively guides you through setting up and utilizing advanced functionalities that streamline your daily tasks.

Minpunten:

I can't identify any drawbacks at the moment. It's refreshing to use a product that is well-developed and delivers on its promises.

Still the best screen capture tool on the market

Opmerkingen: After using Snagit in work environments I found I relied on it so heavily that I purchased a license for my own home use, and have been using it daily for years with very few complaints. Even with the many competing tools now available, and the built-in screen capture features of macOS, I have found that they don't quite do everything that I need, and I just can't live without SnagIt.

Pluspunten:

It works. It does everything I need, and some things that no other competitor tools seem to be able to do, such as: captures the cursor, freezes the screen while you're selecting the region, captures the current state of the screen including hover and focus states, captures scrolling regions and full webpages. You can also grab the text from an image - which was a very innovative feature when first released. The annotation tools and options are easy to use. And it also works great for video screen recordings and animated gifs.

Minpunten:

It's a bit costly - but it's also not a monthly subscription service, so it's not unreasonable. I don't love that the images use a custom file type and extension (".snagx") - but it's easy to export or simply copy and paste into other files or programs. It's not easy to find images in a large library because the text is not recognized.

Can't do my job without Snagit

Opmerkingen: Overall, this is a product that I cannot do my job without. I will continue to purchase Snagit for the ease of use and value for the money.

Pluspunten:

It's easy to initiate a screen capture with custom shortcuts. Once captured, the image editing tools are robust. I particularly like the cutout tool, but I use almost all of them and have no complaints in that regard. I create educational materials for my job, and I wouldn't be able to do it without Snagit. I became so used to using it at my previous job that when my new employer wouldn't pay for it, I paid out of pocket to continue to be able to use it. It's an invaluable tool for my job.

Minpunten:

I tend to use Camtasia rather than Snagit for recording and editing videos because the video editing features in Snagit are not sufficient for my needs.

10 years and counting

Pluspunten:

I have been using Sangit for over 10 years now. With so much competition coming into the marketplace I think it says a lot about the fact that the team at Snagit are always pushing to stay relevant and at times ahead of the curve. Roll on the next 10 yeras.

Minpunten:

When it crashes and I have to reboot my mac.

Essential Tool

Opmerkingen: Simple and intuitive - so easy to use and super useful. Makes life easier when you work online all the time.

Pluspunten:

Snagit is my daily go-to for daily work. From capturing an image or screen recording for content marketing to training manuals to helping communicate in an email. It is used for everything. Literally click-click and done.

Minpunten:

There isn't much to say about Snagit that is not good. It has always worked really well for me and I would say I am a heavy user.

It doesn't prompt you if your microphone is for recording. At least I can't tell. It would be nice for Snagit to prompt you if your settings are not set right for recording.

I love how easy setup and use is on both PC and Mac - I’ve used on both. This tool combines a few different others into one and is critical business ops, training, product feedback, pitch decks, and more

Could not do my job without “SnagIt”

Easy to use right out of the box

Opmerkingen: Quite happy, and in daily use. Other free tools would have done much of the same but with lesser quality/functionality.

Opmerkingen: I love communicating with images with work and in my daily life. I am am very visual person. If I did not need for work, I would still own for personal use.

In addition to making my job easier to share issue and ideas with my dev team, I use it for general non work stuff to capture anything.
