Yamdu - Great for Film Professionals

Pluspunten:

I love that Yamdu gives you so many options for relevant film production workflow. All of the documents and tasks and breakdowns that go into a production are all in one place.

Minpunten:

I don't like the home page view, its a little confusing and doesn't link me to where I want to go usually

Yamdu is set in being a leader in project management for film and television!

Opmerkingen: Overall I’m very happy with the software. It’s what I’ve been hoping to see someone make since the demise of Production Minds.

Pluspunten:

The feature set you receive even at the lowest tiered plan is impressive! How those features integrate with each other allows the pre production process move much more efficiently than using multiple tools and antiquated methods.

Minpunten:

I don’t like that you have to have a higher tiered plan in order to retain contacts through multiple projects. So for smaller productions and smaller companies this means you have to re-enter all the crew and cast information with those who regularly work with your production. Would love to see that changed or even pay a small monthly fee to retain that data.

Modern production software

Opmerkingen: i implemented Yamdu on severall projects - feature films, documentaries and tv series, as a producer or production manager. i myself am satisfied, but fact is there's still missing pieces that dont allow it to become a standard

Pluspunten:

The sofware is made by and for film professionals so it basically doesn't lack any features anyone might want presently while working on a large scale audiovisual production. all the modules are interconnected and able to aggregate the data in different formats

Minpunten:

its a bit to modern, making it very unappealing to the old school film crews who see it as a game and not as a tool. the name itself is a good illustration of that problem

Finally, An Effective Scheduling and Tracking Tool for Producers

Opmerkingen: Biggest benefit for me has been in scheduling and call sheets. That alone makes Yamdu worth having. There are sections I did not use, but that I could see would be very useful for departments in larger productions.

Pluspunten:

The integration of information (crew, staff, locations, talent, etc...) with scheduling is incredibly efficient. Making call sheets is incredibly easy as all the information is always available, auto-populates, and can be conveniently formatted. The virtual strip charts are also very easy to use and provide a very fast way to organize shoot days.

Minpunten:

It was a little hard to figure out the exact workflow at the beginning, but once I understood how the various sections relate it got much easier. The software is very thorough and as every production is a little different, it does require some thinking and planning at the beginning. The staff is very helpful and provides a good orientation that helps a lot. Support is extremely responsive -- there is a comment box that you can activate anytime and drop a note, which makes it easy for users to get help. Very good system. Also does a great job importing scripts.

convenient software

Pluspunten:

I really like the task management and the connection between the different departments. It's easy to keep track with the different tasks and to check which one needs to be done next etc..I did really enjoy the connectivity between the different departments and the tools to keep track of all the different things.

Minpunten:

Sometimes it's a kind of tricky to know which change in which tap has to be done to get the result you want to have, but after some time you understand the workflow, and it gets easier to work around some of the small issues. Sometimes the accuracy of the breakdown function gets a bit in the way. As an example: If you break down the costume and you highlight some of the things which are special about a particular scene, only those are shown in the call sheet. All the basic stuff (the normal costume, which isn't highlighted again in the scene) isn't on the call sheet. Sometimes that can get a bit confusing and time consuming while preparing the call sheet.

Best complete cloud based service available w/superior customer service

Opmerkingen: Outstanding and will be using it for all our productions.

Pluspunten:

- Their customer service is off the chart!!! Incredibly fast response time and always on top of things. - The fact that it is literally a one-stop-shop for ALL aspects of productions is incredible. Having the budget and financing included in addition to cloud-based is why we decided on Yamdu. Literally, the only outside program we use for anything is Final Draft for the script writing.

Minpunten:

- Script Editing - The only thing that is missing is script editing in within the program but I hear it's coming and am very excited about that. It will make small changes so much easier than doing multiple full script imports. - Mobile App - I also hear that the app is continuing to be improved. I work with many young crew and talent that are pretty much phone only especially when on location so they live on the apps. Having the majority of the same features on the app as on computer will set it above all others.

Efficient and professional tools for film workers

Opmerkingen: I can not explain how thankful I am for this tool! I had a lot of problems with yamdu at first, and when I contacted support they have been the most amazing staff! My work has become so much better and at the same time everyone at yamdu has helped me so much to find out what the problems were. Also, I am so thankful that Yamdu is so flexible! Since I work in a very different system than for example USA, they have done everything in their power so that I can use this tool even if I am just a normal film worker on a normal salary. I cannot thank them enough!

Pluspunten:

What I love about Yamdu is that I save up to 3 days on my pre-production phase and this actually helps me to be more creative. Cause this way I can use more of my time on the production design than rather using all my time on making lists. I love that I can switch between all the scenes and make proper notes and these notes showes up on the esthetic lists Yamdu creates on their pdf exports (this is optional of course). I also love that you can import shooting schedule from Movie Magic and my breakdowns are sorted after the schedule, very satisfying!! In every way, Yamdu has helped me become more creative and efficient in my work, which I have missed all the 14 years I have worked in the industry in Norway!

Minpunten:

I thought it was a bit difficult to understand Yamdu at first, and how to tagg elements to my breakdown, but I can recommend to actually watch the videos on yamdu´s website before starting on any breakdowns(I did not do that so it became a bit hustle but my own fault). Also I was a bit shocked how expensive yamdu can be if you have the episodic feature, I wish this was more clear on the website and when you start free trials.. But then again, the industry is different in Norway (where I work), and here the production companies don´t pay for tools like these, freelancers have to pay themselves.

Opmerkingen: I can run multiple projects and know what crew is up to in prep.

Pluspunten:

With Yamdu, we have been able to keep working during Covid, I Have multiple crews in different countries and with Yamdu we keep connected.

Minpunten:

Sometimes it slow and won't load the page.

Yamdu is a Gamechanger

Opmerkingen: It's been a game changer for our organization and something that really helped us stay focused and organized as a team. Customer support has been helpful and provided an overall great experience.

Pluspunten:

Its easy and great for project organization. Love how many categories there are and the ability to turn them off when they aren't needed. I also like the progress tracker and the ability to review projects remotely.

Minpunten:

I wish it was easier to see subtasks in the project overview. Also we have had issues adding certain file types to projects.

Modern production planning tool that has your back

Opmerkingen: It really makes fun to plan a production with Yamdu and offer professional and up-to-date documents for the crew and customer.

Pluspunten:

It's an extremely powerful tool to meticulously plan your productions and if you encounter any problem the support will get back to really fast.

Minpunten:

It can be a bit buggy sometimes so it helps to refresh the page or restart the browser. Although knowing that it isn't that big of a deal.

Yamdu

Opmerkingen: Je gagne beaucoup de temps pour la préparation du projet sur lequel je travaille et c'est grâce à Yamdu.

Grâce à Yamdu, je réalise un boulot de préparation de plusieurs personnes.

Pluspunten:

I have been working in Production for over 30 years, in fact, I am old enough to remember having to create and edit Strip Boards, call sheets, cast break downs etc all by hand. Yamdu's seamless integration of production information into its easily manipulated format has taken decades old drudgery and made it a pleasure. Yamdu will be an integral part of every production we have from here on.

Simple the best

Opmerkingen: Excellent it’s slick design and I don’t think there is a competition but I’m novice by the end in this field.

It have everything cannot specify but it has all what you need in production and much more

Interface need enhancement it’s confusing in some areas with some repetition but you can get along easily with couple of projects to run.

Loved that everything can be found in one place - from casting to schedules to shot list. It is very easy to create detailed shot lists and schedules.

The website freezes at times and the response time while clicking on some icons can be slow.

Game changing

Opmerkingen: What is really worth mentioning is that everybody on the project becomes closer and more coordinated, without any stress or time pressure. I plan on working every project in Yamdu, as it inspires me to leave no stone unturned.

Pluspunten:

Everything. The fact that you put all the details and ideas while the program does the planning and schedule. It is so easy to use and makes the project even more creative and fun.

Minpunten:

The fact that it doesn’t have an app for it, but still, the browser is as fast as any other app.

I love how this whole universe of yamdu was built up. Love how all the databases are connected and tied together, where is no need to reupload the informations multiple times. The speed of the customer support is out of this world and let's not forget about the PDF exporting tools which can save you tons of time.

I feel like the UI could be improved with some minor adjustments.

I use Yamdu simplify my preproduction tasks. It is so easy and friendly to use. I simply love it. Making breakdowns and schedules is so quick.
