No brainer using Brex being a startup.. I switched from a bank credit card right away

Opmerkingen: It simply works as a business card that doesn't require any individual credit (I still don't understand why other business cards require individual credit... pls don't call it as a "business card", right?!). Also, I don't need to feel getting ripped off using a bank-issued credit card where certain dollar amount has to be frozen (they shouldn't call this as a credit card if they take the collateral cash for us to use the amount.. right?!). And user support and dashboard are as responsive and smooth like any other modern tech software.

Pluspunten:

We don't need to connect any individual credit to use Brex business cards. We are taking already risk doing a startup, and founders should not be forced to expose their credit to just use software payment etc. Also, Brex is really built specifically for startups, so a bunch of the benefits and how the software works simply make sense.

Minpunten:

I really cannot think of any... I feel right and very comfortable using Brex card. Using Brex is an essential part of running a startup.

Brex for Startups

Opmerkingen: As a startup it's hard to have a team of dedicated administrative staff and Brex streamlines a lot of the work for our current members and decreases the amount of time we need to spend on expense reports.

Pluspunten:

The Brex user interface enables me to manage my expenses without any worries. My favourite part about the software is being able to upload receipts using my smartphone.

Minpunten:

It's hard to say because this software is so unique but one thing I would like is more freedom in the categorization of items.

Great Bonuses...terrible company...stereotypical Silicon Valley Trash (Wework, Thernos, etc.)

Opmerkingen: If you are a small startup and want free stuff (Twilio credit, WeWork credit, etc.), Brex is great. You get free goodies and free bonuses that can help you boostrap on the cheap. If you are a legitimate busienss that has real revenue with real employees, I would advise you to stay away. If you are successful enough to be at this point, the bonuses aren't worth the tradeoffs. Do you want to give Brex 100% visibility into your company finances in exchange for a few goodies and miles/points? That tradeoff is not worth it at all for legitimate business in my opinion, but to each is own. Brex makes their money (and valuation) solely on the data they collect from their customers (financial data - expenses, income, spending habits, etc.). They use a a hyper agressive marketing and sales team to accomplish this. They are not transparent, they frequently do not honor their bonuses when they go over budget and forget to remove it from the site, and their privacy terms (and accounting software integration permissions) are ludicrous if you take the time to read them. I value transparency and honesty in our business partnerships and Brex is not a brand I would associate those two words with. They are the stereotypical Silicon Valley company backed by large VCs, run by pedigreed 20 year olds, that are out to aquire users at all costs so they can IPO in a few years and make the VCs (and their LPS) rich along with the founders. No thanks.

Pluspunten:

They offer a lot of promotions through to their customer, which are quite high in value. Unfortuntely they do not always honor these promotions. It's also nice to have virtual and physical corporate cards that can easily be created and destroyed in a friendly UI.

Minpunten:

TERRIBLE accounting software integration. They have several integrations that work but they insist on creating a backend authenticated connection instead of a direct feed. They do this so that they can have access to ALL of your financial data without making that clear or transparent during the integration process. If you read their terms and conditions carefully as you attempt to integrate your accounting software, you'll notice what I am talking about. They are a very agressive sales-oriented fintech company. They offer promotions and bonuses with impressively high value, but Brex has been known not to honor many of these promotions (just google "PayPal Brex Promotion scam"). I have unfortuntely experienced this multiple times. Brex is basically the fintech version of WeWork. Brex is a LARGE team of marketing and sales people trying to promote various technology services (good services, I admit) via massive bonuses and promotions. They then offer virtual cards (like privacy.com) and expense management like so many other fintech services. They use their massive bonuses and promotions to lure in new customers and then collect all of their customer's spending data by having the customers integrate accounting software while giving up total privileges to Brex (see my first paragraph in this section) and using Brex cards to make all of their business purchases. This is no different than Square issuing the Cash App card to track consumer spending via "Boost" promos.

Super easy to manage expenses when traveling

Pluspunten:

Text prompt right after card is charged to upload the receipt image is so convenient and easy. Seeing monthly list and uploading recurring receipts is also easy.

Minpunten:

No complaints from me. It's easy to use in both the travel and ongoing business expenses.

Superior product

Opmerkingen: We use Brex for our main business bank account and it has been an overall positive experience.

Pluspunten:

It was very easy to get started with the app. It was also very convenient and we were able to get an account up and running within 48 hours.

Minpunten:

I would like it to be easier to manage the corporate treasury. Paying staff in Crypto would also be ver conveinent.

Easy to use, strong AI autofill for uploaded receipts, flexible budget management.

Login on Android app was broken for a long time, submitting expenses in bulk could be more streamlined.

Great bank for every entrepreneur

Brex opened account for my company instantly, in our team we love how easy are payments can be scheduled, cards creation and brex perks are amazing

Sometimes payment creation UI is little buggy while I am using CMD + F feature with details verification thought browser search

Services cut randomly

Opmerkingen: Brex really does not care about small businesses, I highly suggest people use another online bank like mercury when considering a bank for their start up.

Pluspunten:

Brex was a great platform before they decided to cut all small businesses.

Minpunten:

Brex gave no warning to our company and cut our ability to deposit into our account, making operations halt immediately while we found another solution.

Next to impossible to switch users

Pluspunten:

Nothing - it’s a credit card. Our experience was very poor.

Minpunten:

Next to impossible to switch accounts after the company was sold. Took 10x more time and effort than it needed to. Some of the worst customer support I’ve ever received.

Great for Larger Companies

There is a lot to set up to get it right but once you do, it has so many options and runs smoothly. But you need to be prepared to really spend time learning all features available to customize.

Good at First, Ended Very Poorly

Opmerkingen: So I used Brex as my main business bank account for over a year, it was great for awhile and I loved it, then one day i went to deposit a check with Mobile Deposit and they had a message pop up that says it was disabled, along with any ACH transfers, I got a hold of customer support and they absolutely refused to give me a reason for it being disabled, they just said they were sorry for the inconvenience and they would follow up with Email, I waited a week for the Email and then got a hold of Customer Support again and the agent gave me a day it would be enabled again, I waited a couple days for that and it was not reinstated, so i got ahold of them again and the agent told me that it would not be reinstated and there is a small chance it will ever be again, so i told them it was of no use to me to have an account that I cannot fund, and closed it. Moral of the story is whoever calls the shots at Brex better get their act together or they are surely a doomed company. As of today June 17 2022 I have not received a single communication from Brex.

It was convenient, it built my business credit,I could manage my receipts well.

Minpunten:

Customer Support,The Company Customer Policies. Pretty much they think the software will retain customers while their management treats them extremely poorly.

Every Start Up should be using Brex

Opmerkingen: Unless you are a cash only business, Brex is a must for any start-up of small business. Its easy to integrate, intuitive to use, and professionally tracks expenses for cash and credit. All while integrating into out accounting software. Throw in the rewards program and its a no-brainer.

Pluspunten:

There are so many features that make it awesome. The ease of use, intuitive flow of the ledger, payment system, and vendor management makes this software invaluable. And it easily integrates in to our accounting software. Enough said

Minpunten:

The only "not great" experience was with customer service. I called about a change in the banking routing number and the customer service person had no clue what I was talking about. he told me he had taken care of it and two days later another customer service rep called me about the same issue. He took are of it and we got it resolved. So you see, not that bad.

One of the easiest corporate cards I've used

Opmerkingen: Brex has been great for our organization. I highly recommend it!

Pluspunten:

The ease of use and features are the two things I like the most. I can charge the card and will get a notification text, we can set budgets, get a new card when one expires, the platform is very user friendly. Just overall a great card and platform to use.

Minpunten:

I would like it better if we had cash back or more options to spend our points on.

Brex says "thanks for your reviews, now SCREW YOU small business owner!"

Opmerkingen: Ahh, Brex loves to promote their Capterra and other reviews after soliciting these from small business. But now that they've got their reviews, it's time to burn the small business owner. Out of the blue, we get a message saying, "Brex is constantly evolving our business, and after changes to our strategy, we are less suited to meet the needs of smaller customers." So too bad, my account is closing August 15th whether I like it or not. "This decision cannot be either changed or delayed. Your account will be closed by August 15." Maybe Brex doesn't realize that small businesses become big business, and we're going to be sure to BOYCOTT any big business that uses Brex or ANY bank associated with Brex for the pain and needless aggravation this bank has put us through.

Pluspunten:

I like the platform while it worked. Unfortunately they are no longer supporting small business.

Minpunten:

The fact that they're closing accounts of small business owners.

They promise the fix to all expense and credit card issues but deliver headache after headache.

Opmerkingen: Absolutely horrible. I have had way to many interactions with their customer service for basic things that a financial services company should be able to handle. Then they unceremoniously dropped all of their small businesses. Garbage company, garbage leadership, garbage product.

Pluspunten:

Easily got the credit card. The travel bank integration was nice for travel related rewards

Minpunten:

They only are helpful if you are flush with VC money or funding otherwise they will dump you on the side of the road and never look back. Quite contrary to the the story they tell you when they want you to sign up

Bank On Brex!

Pluspunten:

In addition to the spend management/card issuing features, Brex offers an Instant Revenue program (still in Beta) that allows you to receive a percentage of e-commerce sales almost instantly after the sale completes.

Minpunten:

Customer service doesn't seem too knowledgeable. They often bounce you around until you get to a supervisor who can actually assist you.

I don't trust that I will be able to access my business' money with this company

Opmerkingen: After being unable to do something as simple as cash a check via their app and having a generally poor experience in the app itself, I honestly don't trust Brex to handle any of my money. I'll be closing my account and finding a different bank. Imagine if I needed quick access to those funds? Credit card rewards are a distant second to having the ability to access money for a bank.

Pluspunten:

Easy and quick to sign-up. It left me with a good first impression. The credit card seemed like it had great rewards which was a big reason why I chose Brex. Customer service was responsive but not very helpful via chat.

Minpunten:

The app is bare bones and not intuitive to navigate. I deposited a check, received a confirmation of the deposit, and then was told the funds would be available in 2-8 days. About two weeks later there were still no funds in my account, my ability to deposit checks had been disabled in the app, and customer service had no record of the attempted deposit. They then tried to steer me into connecting a bank account to my Brex account to transfer funds.

Easiest corporate card I've ever used

Opmerkingen: This is a really great solution, especially for our small distributed team. No one wants to have to spend time submitting expense reports and it allows me to have some autonomy with purchasing things I wouldn't otherwise need approval for. I'm not sure what the admin side of things is like but from an employee perspective, it's the easiest business spending account I've ever used.

Pluspunten:

I love having a physical and digital card. I order a lot of marketing materials for our company and it couldn't be more simple. I save my passwords in 1Password, but their website and my account make it really easy to access all the information I need to make a purchase. With the digital card, I don't have to do anything at all – I trust my purchase details are going to the right person to review. No forms to fill out or expenses to log – it's great! With the physical card, the only thing I have to do is take a photo of my receipt and I'm done. Again, couldn't be easier.

Minpunten:

There is nothing I dislike. It's easy, modern, and trustworthy.

At Last! Corporate Cards that have moved out of the Paleolithic Era

Opmerkingen: Overall experience has been a joy. The support and account management has been great. The software is nicely designed.

Pluspunten:

Getting set up and running was a super simple and quick process. All online, no forms. I was running within 5 minutes with my first virtual card. I can add users in less than 30 seconds without any drama.

Minpunten:

I can only synch with one of my Xero instances.... I'd like to use Brex globally, but right now it just seems to be for US market.

Great card for start-ups that need flexibility

Opmerkingen: Better end-user experience, more rewards.

Pluspunten:

1) The users love the receipt-texting function and the new mobile app and so far think it is easier than our previous expense reporting provider 2) Not tied to a bank so you're not required to hold your collateral at a specific institution 3) Great rewards structure for a company with a lot of travelers; we earn tens of thousands more than the standard 1% bank corporate card program 4) The virtual cards are a nice option for users with subscriptions like central G&A

Minpunten:

1) The main reason I gave a 4/5 for overall quality is a current lack of general ledger integrations. The export/import process during month-end close is fine for small to mid-size startups, but for anything larger, the bookkeeper might find the recording procedure cumbersome. 2) The availability calculation isn't particularly transparent and can be hard to predict.

A superior corporate credit card

Pluspunten:

Easy application process. No personal guarantee. No collateral. Rewards. Ease of use: issuing cards, creating and maintaining virtual cards, submitting receipts, integrating with accounting software, automated payments.

Minpunten:

Dynamic credit limits are actually both a pro and a con. The reason it's in this section is that the credit limit changes daily which for us led to unnecessary fire drills with some cardholders while traveling.

Great employee spending platform

Opmerkingen: Highly recommend if you are looking to issue credit cards within your company!

Pluspunten:

Brex is super easy to issue new cards, control limits, and for receipt uploads. When a company charges one expense as multiple invoices, Brex is smart enough to take one receipt and split it among the invoices.

Minpunten:

It would be great if the system could send automatic reminders to users who do not upload receipts, since this is a main functionality of utilizing this system. A lot of the work is put on our bookkeepers to ensure receipts are uploaded and accurate.

Everyone should be using Brex!

Opmerkingen: Since our first day to today, their team has been amazing with assisting us through any questions we have and plans for the future. The perks are amazing and any team that qualifies should be using brex!

Pluspunten:

You're spending everyday for your company. Using brex is a no brainer, there are only pros to using this product, amazing perks and the customer support is so fast and easy!
