Best free tool similar to Illustrator

A free and professional work tool
Opmerkingen: Extremely happy with this amazing software. Amazing how it is still distributed for free.
Pluspunten:
The thing I appreciate most is the speed of use. In addition to this, the available tools allow you to create very high quality graphic products while maintaining compatibility with any software. In over 10 years of use I have never regretted using it.
Minpunten:
In some projects, file processing can become a little slower, forcing you to split the work across multiple files. In some cases it may happen that the software crashes but a backup copy is always saved before closing the program.
The use of Inkscape.
Opmerkingen: Since I am predominantly a Linux user this program works well for me. I have used Adobe illustrator in windows on certain projects and I get just the same clean crisp duck with you could get it is much lighter on your resources so it performs faster the learning curve is very small I suggest that you actually graphic designer try it.
Pluspunten:
My experience using Inkscape started about 11 years ago I did not have the money to pay for Adobe illustrator being a graphic designer I needed a tool that would give me the same functionality. as Adobe illustrator in my use of Inkscape I found that it had several features that Adobe illustrator lacked such as plugins that would allow you to do tracing and a lot more, I have enjoyed using it I think it is a very professional piece of software. Also, the learning curve is much lower than Adobe illustrator you can open up the program and give right to work.
Minpunten:
The cons of using Inkscape I have found are very few 1 is that when opening up a program Inkscape does not have tabs in its layout so if you start a new project it opens up a totally new window. I myself prefer layout of tabs it is a much cleaner look and it does not clutter up your desktop.
Good product for begineers
Pluspunten:
Provides support for layers and object grouping.Offers a variety of effects and filters.
Minpunten:
No built-in support for colour management.
It's free, which is a bonus
Opmerkingen: It's free, which is a bonus, and you can knock up some decent vector graphics with it. Used to use Illustrator, but that was a right pain in the neck with the subscription fees. Inkscape's a bit rough around the edges, but it gets the job done.
Pluspunten:
Love that it doesn't cost a penny! Inkscape's a lifesaver for a tight budget.
Minpunten:
Had a bit of a kerfuffle getting used to the interface. It's not as intuitive as some of the other options out there. And it can be a bit slow at times.
Free Open Source Alternative
Opmerkingen: Recommended for those looking to move away from Adobe's subscription model.
Pluspunten:
Provides most of the core functionality from other software such as Illustrator without the price tag. Allows for the conversion of Bitmap Images into Vector Images easily. Impressive compatibility with most other Vector Based software file types. Pairs well with GIMP as a free software package.
Minpunten:
UI can be unintuitive at times, lacks the customisability that other software allows for and does not support dark mode. Limited to PNG output for Bitmap Images. Text Editing can be finicky at times, particularly with Spacing between Baselines.
Amazing Vector
Opmerkingen: I have really enjoyed using and becoming familiar with the software and finding new uses for it.
Pluspunten:
It is a great vector software and takes care of all of my vector creating needs. The designs are easy to export and use however needed.
Minpunten:
It is difficult to learn the layout and how to customize it when first setting up.
Great Adobe Substitute For Free!
Pluspunten:
Inkscape has all the features I need to create my t-shirt designs for FREE. It's easier than Adobe & has lots of tutorials on YouTube
Minpunten:
I like the whole platform! No issues at all.
Incredible Alternative to Paid Programs
Opmerkingen: For the extremely low price of $0.00, this program introduces you to premium graphics features and a wide variety of color optimization. While it is lacking in many practical applications it is THE free alternative. You get what you pay for. And lets face it, its easy on the eyes. :)
Pluspunten:
Inkscape is free and open source compared to some programs in that they charge more than they give. Every effect, every tool can be used effectively for 2D vector based graphic design. The trace bitmap tool is essential for rescaling and fixing the resolution of customer's old designs; it does have its limitations, but nothing an hour of time cant fix.
Minpunten:
In terms of printing quality, it comes face to face with adobe and other programs when it comes down to color. I do constantly fight the RGB default and have to ask someone with adobe access to convert my PDF's to CMYK. I see it often used in conjunction with Scribus for this very purpose but Scribus' user interface is jarring and difficult to process. The other biggest issue I have with Inkscape is its inability to process spot colors which are essential in printing white ink on darker media. I would also like to see more implementation in geometric design, with more alignment accessibility and open to more axis' than simply X and Y. I would rather not pay for autodesk to rely on 3D rendering.
How to pick a easy graphic software tool
Opmerkingen: Inkscape is very good software to use for graphics. All the stuff you make are vector, meaning it uses math to make sure that not matter what size the image is it look good.
Pluspunten:
That it's free to use and simple to use for any graphic are design project. Plus there are plenty of videos on how to use the software.
Minpunten:
Sometimes I wish that the font was already included with the software.
Great features for a FREE program!
Opmerkingen: I use Inkscape regularly for all of my sublimation projects.
Pluspunten:
Inkscape is FREE and simple to use, yet it still delivers the features you need.
Minpunten:
Some features are hard to find and understand.
Cheap/Free alternative to Adobe Illustrator
Pluspunten:
It is inexpensive in comparison to Illustrator while having a lot of the core functionality that the Adobe software provides.
Minpunten:
It is not as advanced as Illustrator, the features are less powerful.
Inkscape is one of the best design tools
Opmerkingen: Overall i like inkscape very much. I think that is a big competitor to adobe programs because it can get the same quality of work without over prices of adobe which many people can't afford it
Pluspunten:
I like that it is professional. It has alot of options and tools to make my designs look unique and professional. Also, it is very easy to use.
Minpunten:
I don't like the lack of Arabic Fonts which they should give much care because i need it in many projects
Very capable, powerful tool for creating vector images. Cross-platform and open source.
Opmerkingen: Since 2004, I have used Inkscape for creating vector graphics. Inkscape can easily handle small reasonably complex drawings. However, when working on large diagrams, comprised of hundreds of objects and many layers, Inkscape would become less responsive and occasionally crash. For creating highly complex diagrams, I still rely on CorelDraw which is far more robust overall. But I use Inkscape for all simpler diagrams and have watched it transform over the years into an increasingly powerful vector graphics program.
Pluspunten:
Cross-platform and open source. This has several big advantages: a) No need to worry about proprietary file formats and vendor-lock because it saves files in the open SVG format. Drawings that you create today will still be easily opened and used 10 years from now in either new versions of Inkscape, or in one of many other applications that can also open SVG files. b) No economic barriers to use- our members can easily download and use Inkscape without worrying about license costs. This helps encourage teamwork and sharing responsibility of creating drawings. c) No barriers caused by using different operating systems: Our organization members can use Inkscape on our computers regardless of which operating system. Some members Linux, others use Mac or Windows 10). Inkscape performs flawlessly on all installations. Can import Adobe Illustrator (AI), CorelDraw (CDR), EPS, PDF, VSD files and allow modification and edits.
Minpunten:
The way Inkscape handles docker panels is somewhat confusing. Dockers are sidebar panels that display information about layers and objects in the drawing. Currently, the user must navigate to the software menu, click on OBJECT and then click on "Object" to turn on the Object docker panel. The same slow procedure must be repeated for Layers: navigate to the software menu, click on LAYER, and then click on "Layer" to turn on the Layer docker panel. A more convenient option would be to list all docker panels in the software menu VIEW drop-down list or perhaps somewhere else. In CorelDraw, I used to organize objects in my drawings by placing them in different layers. Inkscape does not seem to be able to do this. This is immensely useful for creating maps as each layer can be turned on or off depending on the type of map you want to create. ie) having a Road Layer, Water Layer, Houses Layer, Vegetation Layer, etc allow me to turn on only the layer I want to display. I can then create separate image files /diagrams for roads, river systems, housing, and vegetation for use in documents or academic articles. Inkscape developers stated several years ago that this feature would be implemented. Perhaps it was implemented, but I have not been able to get Inkscape to work this way When working on very large and complex diagrams with many layers, Inkscape can become quite slow to respond. For this reason, I tend to use CorelDraw for complex large diagrams
Inkscape: Vector Design software for all creators.
Opmerkingen: Inkscape shouldn't really be compared to other software which specializes in illustrations such as Krita. Inkscape is always first a vector design software and one of the best at that. It requires more technical skills than artistic but both artist and graphic designers and even game designers can make full use of this software.
Pluspunten:
It's vector design is my favorite thing. I've tried creating logos as rasterized images in other software but they scale horribly. However, as vectors they are perfect and Inkscape does vectors best. The large amount of tools allows me to truly create anything. I use it for logos but also for specialized lettering and sound effects for comics. And it's a free software!
Minpunten:
As far as UI it's not the best looking and can be confusing. You will definitely need to learn how to use the software to its full capacity.

Great free graphic design software
Opmerkingen: Inkscape has allowed me to create more detailed vector designs for use in my business at a quicker pace than using the Cricut Design Space software. I would recommend it to all Cricut users and to those just looking for an affordable graphic design software.
Pluspunten:
As a free software, this program is great for anyone looking to do graphic design work but especially for beginners. I started using Inkscape as a way to design vector files for use with my Cricut machine. The Cricut Design Space software had a lot of limitations and was very slow for working with text, so I turned to Inkscape for almost all of my project designs. I can then easily save my vector files in .svg format to upload into Cricut Design Space for making my projects.
Minpunten:
Inkscape will occasionally crash and close while I'm using it, so be sure to save often. As a free software, this is a mild annoyance but not a deal breaker.
One of the best free software for illustrators
Opmerkingen: Inkscape is an amazing free software with great features that lets you create and edit vector and no-vector graphics, import and export designs in variety of format, and play with your own designs. It is a great free alternative to Illustrator.
Pluspunten:
For a free software, inkscape is feature-packed with almost everything its rivals offer. I love that it allows us to vectorize almost any design, even ones inpkrted from external drawing applications. File conversion from svg to editable PDFs is also a very useful tool, one that isn't available for free anywhere else. It is available on all OS, but seems to work best on Linux. It's recent updates have been fabulous, bringing in newer features and better interface. It also has a great support base with thousands of tutorials and an extensive manual to help whenever we are stuck. You will also find many twmplates online to avoid working from scratch.
Minpunten:
Does not allow exporting to jpeg, which is a shame. Not all features are supported when a file is imported from Illistrator. Also, the learning curve is very steep. Even people having fairly good knowledge on Illistarttor and such applications will have to go through basic Inkscape tutorials to know how to get a job done. It also lags a bit sometimes.
A powerful vector drawing software for your creations!
Opmerkingen: Inkscape is a wonderful free vector tool. It is perfect for graphic design and can be used without difficulty if you take the time to learn how to use it. I recommend it!
Pluspunten:
Besides being free and open source, Inkscape has some interesting features. For example, I like the fact that it allows you to create images in SVG (vector) format, which has many advantages over traditional raster images (JPEG, GIF and PNG). Vector images are smaller, flexible and scalable without loss of quality. This is an undeniable advantage. It also adapts to the main operating systems such as Windows, Linux and MacOS. This suits me perfectly since I have two computers, one where Windows is installed and the other MacOS.
Minpunten:
A little slow to start but I gladly forgive it because it helps me to create for example beautiful stickers!
inkscape
Pluspunten:
Inkscape is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator.
Minpunten:
no cons for me I love it. I do not have much experience with other programs.
Excellent vector drawing software
Opmerkingen: An excellent alternative to paid equivalent softwares. Scribus will easily fill in the gaps for the text features.
Pluspunten:
Open-source, free, cross-platform, lots of features. I can't compare it to non-free competitors though.
Minpunten:
It lacks some handy features for text (hyphenation, resizing, margins…), but that’s potentially out of scope.
Would recommend because it is free and does the job in most cases
Opmerkingen: I would recommend Inkscape to others who are looking for a free but effective graphic design tool
Pluspunten:
It's free and sufficiently features-rich for most scenarios one encounters as a small business, e.g., creating posters, website designs, and simple graphics.
Minpunten:
It crashes a lot whenever one has more than a few images in the same file. I have lost work multiple times because of this.
Amazing open source vector graphics package
Opmerkingen: I no longer purchase Adobe Creative Cloud, largely due to no longer needing Illustrator.
Pluspunten:
This is a fantastic vector graphics tool which can do just about everything and doesn't cost a bean.
Minpunten:
It's not as full featured as Adobe Illustrator and if you really need some of its advanced features you'll have to but that, but for everybody else Inkscape is more than good enough and free!
In a single word, Inkscape is AMAZING
Opmerkingen: Due to the lack of a licence requirement, Inkscape is ideal for small businesses. Working with it is similar to working with the best software money can buy because it is simple to use.
Pluspunten:
This design software, in my opinion, is exceptional. It is incredibly easy to use, convenient because it has a portable version, and the vector image format is ideal for creating images that work with practically any website. Integrating it into my business was very simple and now wouldn't use anything else.
Minpunten:
There is a lack of the layer management and several other upscale features seen in premium solutions.
A free and standard software for producing Vector art
Opmerkingen: I have really liked using it to produce logos and other vectorized images, since it has quite a lot of options that facilitate work. I would really recommend it to anyone interested in practicing vector art, especially if you cannot afford the more expensive softwares, since this one has all you could need to start.
Pluspunten:
It is one of the standard softwares, and this makes it easy to find information and tutorials online, which facilitates understanding how it works. It also provides a few tutorials with the program itself, which is always good to have. It is also free, and open-source, so users can develop and change it if they need to. The webpage has quite a few suggestions regarding tutorials and key-bindings, which is great to have as a new user. The functionalities are quite extensive and useful, allowing users to produce shapes and lines that can be easily altered using nodes, without losing any of their quality. It has many predetermined shapes, but also has a few tools that allow users to draw the shapes they need. Pre-determined shapes can also be modified by the user to fit what they need. There are also countless options to work with regarding colors, gradients, position changes, grouping, selection, etc. There is even a selection tool that allows the user to select similar objects by their color or shape! It also allows to save the files in standard formats that can later be sent to others, or used in programs like Photoshop, which is a great option to have in case any further modification is needed that cannot be done in Inkscape itself. Overall, it has great tools that facilitate work quite nicely for users, both regular and new to the software.
Minpunten:
It is not very aesthetic-looking, and it can be a bit difficult to follow the tutorials, since many of its tools seem to have been moved around, and had their key-bindings changed, in later versions. This makes it hard for new users to find the tools or options they need for each piece, and can actually generate a lot of confusing when you start working with it.
1.0 Version Much Improved
Opmerkingen: I have been looking for quite awhile for a replacement for my Adobe Fireworks graphics program. I needed a tool that allowed me to easily manipulate graphics and create new content with ease. I'm not a graphics designer, so I don't need the power and complexity of Photoshop or Gimp, but something that will allow me to do some basic graphics manipulation with ease. Inkscape fits this need well. I also wanted something multiplatform since I work primarily on a Mac with an Ubuntu machine as my alternate. Inkscape runs great on each.
Pluspunten:
I like the fact that I can insert basic shapes and manipulate existing images with relative ease. I'm a developer (not designer) so I do get artwork created by others that needs manipulating. Inkscape allows me to resize, reformat and do basic image manipulation with ease.
Minpunten:
I was using the beta 1.0 version previously and am happy to see the release of the official 1.0 version for the Mac that resolved a bunch of issues. I would welcome a more feature rich "magic wand" tool to select objects and be able to manipulate image boundaries. The software is powerful although with power comes complexity at times.
Inkscape review
Pluspunten:
It is fairly easy to use and on top of that it is free. So it is a great alternative versus adobe illustrator.
Minpunten:
It lacks some features that illustrator has and could have a more modern UI.
