Simple instant chat software

Opmerkingen: Having a simple quick messenger is really improving my work progress and letting me and my team to connect quickly to collaborate on task quickly. Wonderful experience is all that i can said.

Pluspunten:

Google Hangouts is free to use and comes with Gmail account. I can create and join multiple chat group to help me separating from work group chat and personal and social group chat. Another thing that i like is, it can be easily accessed from my smartphone as i mostly only have my smartphone when i am out from office.

Minpunten:

What i like the least with Google Hangouts is, it has limitation on file size that can be sent thru the software. I can only sent and attach a maximum of 200MB file size, and need to switch to other file transfer software to sent a file that sized more than 200MB. Other than that, this software is very helpful in connecting me and my colleague.

A great partner when you need a communication tool with others.

Opmerkingen: An excellent tool to use when you are communicating with others and I use it on daily basis.

Pluspunten:

You can add video meeting links which make things more visualized when talking to others.

Minpunten:

The conversation can jump around here and there at times which is annoying. Hope this can be fixed.

A very simple messaging tool

Google Chat is a very simple chat and messaging tool that allows quick commmunication especially in a remote global environment. It's a good integration to be used with the rest of the google Suite.

Google Chat : Easy Chat ...Reliable Communication

Pluspunten:

With Google chat you need not to share your phone number which is quite annoying at times to share . With Google chate is provides safe and secure enviornment to the users and they can even block the users whith whome they dony want to interact with.

Minpunten:

Google Chat is not widly deployed in the community as other chat tools are . That chat tools provided by other major players in social media chatting are more comfortable i believe.

Google Chat: A perfect platform for teams communication and collaboration.

Opmerkingen: My overall experience with the google chat has been extremely wonderful. It makes my day to day teams call and interactions very easy and faster. It is very easy to use and manage.

Pluspunten:

The best thing about the product is that it is very user friendly that even a beginner can use it with easy with any complexity. And it is very helpful in making our day to day communication much easier and faster.

Minpunten:

File upload size limit should be increased for sending the video and pdf files. That is one of thing that I am looking for it since long time.

Good instant messaging and chat application with simple interface by google.

Opmerkingen: Overall google chat is a really helpful tool for instant messaging and communication. But i feel more work need to be done with regard to tools and personalization in the interface and data security and making it a reliable choice.

Pluspunten:

The real time chat interface is very minimal and user friendly. The mobile access is also superb. The file sharing is also very very easy. The search filter works very nice and i liked it very much.

Minpunten:

Data import and export can be even more improvised. The alerts and notifications also need better management and less disturbing and repeating alerts.

Well designed and easy to use communication service

Pluspunten:

It is very easy to use, it is designed pretty well and I appreciate the integration of Google Calendar and Google Meet into the app.

Minpunten:

The search option is not working great. It does not capture some words that are mentioned in the chat or it is searching more spaces/group chats instead the individual ones.

A pretty good work tool

Opmerkingen: For home office or teleworking is a very good tool because it allow to keep in touch with coworkers and prove readidnes during works hours

The app is a good work tool because it works a real time, it runs pretty good in mobiles and it's a pretty good app for chatting with one or more coworkers

What I like about the software it doesn't hang much like other software. You can easily search the communication history as well, which is very important to recover some significant information from the past. And it's more professional to communicate without giving people your personal contact details.

Minpunten:

The integration with other platforms seems to be less, which can be made better to seamlessly communicate.

A user-friendly messaging tool

Opmerkingen: The app is free to use and is a cheap way for communicating with employees, especially, since I have employees who have the habit of ignoring text messages. I can send unlimited texts at no cost whatsoever, which is a very cost-effective way of communicating with employees.

Pluspunten:

I like it how easy it is to search for a contact within the chat. It also enables me set reminders, which keeps me on tabs of all the things I need to do throughout the day. The messaging app is reliable and very secure. It allows for all of us with Gmail accounts to interact seamlessly. It is a wonderful tool that has reduced the number of messages in my inbox. If I want my chatbox to read unavailable, I can easily sign out from the chat.

Minpunten:

The pop up messages can be so distracting especially when concentrating on work. At times the messages fail to send and I cannot make out if its the internet connection that has issues or the app. At times the app can be too slow and groggy.

Easy to use but slow and with many things to improve

Opmerkingen: I like most of the features and design, but must improve stability.

Pluspunten:

It's very easy to use and create teams, also starting a Google Meet in just one click.

Minpunten:

You can't send more than 1 file at the same time, and sometimes it becomes so slow you have to restart it. You cannot save favorite or important messages.

Avearge tool for team collobaration

Opmerkingen: Average experiece overall. Good for one-to-one communications. Message tagging feature is missing, which becomes difficult to reply to a specific message in a group.

Pluspunten:

Inbuilt within Gmail and apps, easy to use

Minpunten:

Not able to tag a message and reply to that person. Context gets lost in Google spaces.

Google Chats review

Opmerkingen: I think this is by far the best app (next to discord) for chatting. Simple, easy to use, snd trusty. I can log in to my google account without having any fear, because it was made by google.

Pluspunten:

I think the notifications were the best feature. The instant send thru messages combined with the notification’s buzz really tops it off and makes it by far the most useful addition.

Minpunten:

Like any other product, learning how to use the app and the controls can be hard to learn. But since this is a chatting app, Imdon’t have to worry about anything like that, and I can use it with ease.

Google Chat

Opmerkingen: Google Chats is a good chat option especially for Android users as it easily incorporates in other Google Apps.

Pluspunten:

Google Chat is an excellent software to communicate with friends and fellows. It is seen as a replacement and better version of Google Hangouts by google. It has a very pleasant and simple design. It offers multiple modes of communication like text chatting, audio and video calls. You can also initiate group call or chat among team member to use it as a collaboration tool. Along with chatting, you can also send files of any format with it easily.

Minpunten:

Though technically Google Chat is not less than any of its competitors in any manner, but its smaller user base makes it a little less priority for users.

Simple to use and preferred over other chat systems

Opmerkingen: Fantastic user interface and easy to use tools. It has been a life saver in many instances!

Pluspunten:

I love that we have full history available for all chats and channels. This is very useful as in the roofing business, sometimes it can take years to finish large commercial jobs through various phases. This history helps keep all of our internal company conversations and data at our fingertips.

Minpunten:

I wish that the search feature could be a little more user friendly. You have to remember which person you were chatting with to find a specific word or topic and a lot of our communications cross-over other individuals or channels so finding a specific thing takes more time than it should.

Fun and easy to use!

Opmerkingen: Overall, google chat is a great product that fits in wonderfully with the entire Google product suite. You can easily copy/past from chat into a word document (though there is formatting issues to deal with; I typically go from chat to notepad then to word). It's user friendly, has an app to use on other devices, and you can use chat either inside gmail or as a "pop out", so the email page can be minimized (not closed!) and still use the chat box. Chats can be saved, so you don't have to worry about ever saving it and loosing it. I've been using gmail since it was by invite only, and have seen gmail grow, including the inclusion of the chat feature. It's definitely a product I would recommend to anyone.

Pluspunten:

Gmail Chat has been around for a good long time. It's a great tool if you're wanting to contact a fellow gmail user and strike up a conversation for work or personal use. I often use it to discuss the current novel I'm writing with my husband (who is my sounding board and listens to me prattle on about the corner I've written myself into). I've also used it to send links, grocery lists, recipes, etc. It's really easy to use: you sent an invite to someone using their email, phone number, or name. The other person gets the request, and they can either accept or decline it. If they accept (and are a fellow gmail user), they can immediately start chatting via text. Quick, simple, and very user friendly! Also, the chats are always saved (though you can turn that option off), and are searchable. (I've had to use that feature MANY times!)

Minpunten:

There is a limit to the characters you can send. Since I frequently send stuff to the husband while writing, I often have to divide it up into sections. Same with anything else I send that is very long. I haven't used it for anyone that isn't a gmail user, so I honestly have zero clue how that would even work. The app for using it on an iphone is called "hangouts" and not "chat", so that can be confusing when you're trying to find the right app. But it works great once you find it, download and install it.

Modern Enterprise Chat

Pluspunten:

One of the obvious competitors for Google Chat is the prevalent Skype (previously Lync) instant messaging application often bundled with Microsoft products such as Outlook and Office for ease of integration. Unlike Skype, Google Chat offers a more modern set of features. Foremost is the way in which content can be directly shared in the chat window such as images or image previews from URL resources. Rich content can simply be pasted directly into Google chat and seamlessly integrated into the conversation. In Skype, copy pasting an image results in the image being sent as an attached file which is disruptive and really negates the convenience of sending an image over IM versus more conventional means such as e-mail. Overall Google Chat offers a modern approach to enterprise instant messaging that simply works and works well.

Minpunten:

One of the main concerns for Google Chat revolves around the precarious nature of Google long term product support. On the other side of the fence Skype users are migrating to a more Discord or Slack like application called Microsoft Teams. This next generation of application incorporates IM into a broader context that includes more robust moderation and content sharing capabilities. As of now, Google Chat is in a branding transition to be incorporated as Google Hangouts Chat which indicates that Google intends to stay in the IM application space, but its not clear what features will be updated to bring Google Hangouts Chat in-line with competing applications.

Hangouts is now replaced by Chat

Opmerkingen: RIP Hangouts. You were limited in features but simple was somehow better. Your successor in its current iteration is an annoying arriviste

The font UI is better on Chat than Hangouts. Google app so it's easy to msg Google/Gmail contacts. Free. That's it

Minpunten:

TBH, this would not even be on my list of chat apps if I had a choice, but certain work situations require it. Sigh. What's lacking? Can't see if read/unread. Replying specific message is impossible, but you can manually copy, put in ```quotedtext``` to quote in a very unaesthetic monospaced font display. Emojis are a multi-step selection process unless you somehow memorise the text shortcuts for less basic ones like :( On desktop if you use the chat sidebar in Gmail, it will take up your full Gmail inbox space OR pop up into a little window that's way too small by default and stuck to the bottom of the screen — this is a massive UX irritation if you need to arrange your windows/tabs in a certain way for quick switching between apps for work. Would seriously suggest Google allows free floating chat windows in Gmail. And get rid of the INSTANT contact popup when hovering mouse over the chat threads – set it to like a long hover or right click for goodness sake

Increase team communication effectiveness

Pluspunten:

The fact that Google has integrated hangouts directly into your email page makes it appear to be more user-friendly, even to those who have never used it previously. I appreciate that I can post messages and get alerts promptly. You may even hold team meetings from one central location—technology at its most advanced.

Minpunten:

While utilizing workspace, I haven't delved into the Google Hangouts part of things yet. It has been brought to my attention that the price is a bit unclear. If the designers could provide a better choice to integrate all of these aspects into one and make it so that the cost can be identified, we would most likely employ it on the business side.

The most Underrated messenger

Opmerkingen: I love hangouts. I believe this app and it is a Secured one. But team need to concentrate more on some issues. Still this app is the most Underrated app and I want hangouts team to look into these technical issues.

Pluspunten:

I love using hangouts. I suggest using this app due to following reasons: 1. This is more secured chat app than many 2. Easy to connect 3. Meetings are easier here as this is integrated with google 4. Smileys, GIF's and emotes which are funny and can enjoy using them 5. Switching voice call to video and vice-versa. this is the first app to introduce this feature

Minpunten:

1.The call timer wont stop immediately, I encounter this glitch after I end the call and this is sometimes irritating too. 2. Sending Voice notes. I hope this function will be added soon and I bet the usage of this app will increase with this one feature. 3. One more difficulty with hangouts I face is with ringtones, I could not change ringtone of calling and notification on Realme 5 pro. 4. Sometimes i need to uninstall the app and reinstall as it keep on popping up "the app isn't responding"

Swift communication within team

Pluspunten:

Google Hangouts has made team communication more straightforward and more effective. It's a great alternative to email in a pinch because of how easily it can be integrated and used across teams, industries, and geographic locations.

Minpunten:

It makes no pretensions to be anything other than what it is: a simple website. However, with features like discussion threading and streamlined group document management, it's easy to see how Google might extend it even slightly and make it a serious competitor to Slack, which many individuals and businesses use today.

A web messenger from Google

Opmerkingen: My overall experience with Google Hangouts is Ok. It works but I prefer to switch to any other messenger when I have a chance. Even Skype I like more. The only plus of Google Hangouts is an easy access from Google Mail. This is the only reason why I continue using it.

Pluspunten:

I have been using a lot of different messengers for my work and every day life, and I should say that I do not like Google Hangouts. It is stable, simple, multi-platform, it is in-built in google mail, you can use it to text and call. And these are all positive things that I can say about it. These are the minimum any present messenger can do.

Minpunten:

Comparing to other messengers, functionality of Google Hangouts is very limited. You cannot reply, delete or edit your messages. Its design is very primitive and outdated. When I started a video call from my mobile device with my colleague I could not join the same call from my computer. I was added to a work group chat and I have never received a notification about it. I have sent invitations to my colleagues and they were never accepted, I suppose for the same reason.

Spending half my day on this tool every working day - love it!

Opmerkingen: Can't imagine my work calendar without Google Hangouts/Meet - the most important collaboration tool during the virtual worklife!

Pluspunten:

The most simple and easy tool out there for online meetings, webinars, discussion, and interviews. The Google suite integration is addictive - you'll hate to use Zoom or Teams once you get used to this!

Minpunten:

Consumes a lot of RAM even on a 16 GB machine. Shoots up the fan speed a lot. The limit on the number of participants per meeting is a little hindering. It prevents events/meetings with larger audiences.

An Application With Some Problems, With A Lot Of Potential

Opmerkingen: While it is a chat application with many possibilities to be the suite of Google products, for the moment I think it has several points against it do not allow you to be up to the rest of the tools for chat. However, I still use it! ;)

Pluspunten:

The fact that this chat tool is 100% integrated to the suite of Google applications that we use in the company, makes everyday work with it very simple. It has the possibility of being used both from a PC (via web or through the standalone version) or from a mobile device.

Minpunten:

Several points against: 1- the mobile version for Android does not solve the whole well to do with notifications, even more if it is used with the standalone version together. 2- The notifications in the mobile version take a while to arrive in comparison with other chat applications that we have used (HeapChat, for example). 3- The user interface and the actions that are carried out many times are not entirely clear until you learn them (for example: how to attach an image or document in a conversation, in which it is unclear what to send this document once attached to it). 4- The updates: they are very frequent and many times the session is lost when restarting the application after it.
