Essential for website optimization

Best tool to find bugs and pain points in your site
Pluspunten:
- Session Recordings - This really lets us know what are bugs and pain points in your site and having the timeline displaying tips were those actions were made is awsome (F.e, you can see in the timeline when the prospect is frustrated);- Heatmaps - This is very important to get an overall page knowing about what your prospects are clicking and looking
Minpunten:
The analysis can be very qualitative. I wanted to see more numbers, especially with the revolution of AI

The greatest resource for businesses conducting online transactions is Hotjar.
Opmerkingen: The SEO of websites is revolutionized by Hotjar. As if we had a hidden window into the brains of our guests. A wealth of information is available for comprehending user behavior through the live interviews, user comments, and visual insights. It is also quite easy to use.
Pluspunten:
For individuals looking to increase revenue and maximize their conversion rate, this product is perfect. With Hotjar's features, teamwork will be easier and everyone on our team can gather the data required to make the right modifications to our website pages. They offer 24/7 support and customized training in the meantime to make sure I can get the most out of user behavior analysis on our website. Hotjar allows me to store data for a maximum of one year. If I want to know what's going on our website for an extended amount of time, this is a good alternative. One feature we've refined in FullSession is visitor recordings. In contrast to Hotjar, FullSession doesn't slow down our website aside from offering sophisticated filtering tools and comprehensive analytics.
Minpunten:
A few customers mentioned that they would have preferred a user behavioral analysis tool with greater depth. Predictive analytics, which could be useful in predicting user behavior, is not available in the software.
Tracking is constantly failing
Pluspunten:
Just the fact of being able to record heat maps.
Minpunten:
Our account has been constantly going on and off with an alert about the tracking not being properly implemented. Later, without having changed anything seems to be resolved. It's been like this for 2 weeks now.
I was a longtime Hotjar using before switching to Microsoft Clarity
Pluspunten:
Hotjar was the first of its kind for me, opened up new doors and enabled me to gather data I couldn't previously get. I used it religiously on every single website I setup for clients and even personal websites, it was the best tool I found.
Minpunten:
Microsoft Clarity came along, offering the same features, for free. I wanted to stay with Hotjar as they'd always worked to improve their tool and the team were brilliant if I ever needed anything or had any questions but ultimately there wasn't much to differentiate Hotjar and Clarity so I decided the cost wasn't worth it for me.

Website users activity monitoring
Pluspunten:
I use this tool to track users and their behaviour when they interact with my website.
Minpunten:
I would have liked it to integrate marketing automation systems like Adobe Campaign, which I also use from time to time.
By far, the best tool of this type!
Opmerkingen: Hotjar has been an important tool for our start-up, to user test different features on our website and monitor them.

I've been using Hotjar for months and it's been a critical tool in finding important bugs on our website and fixing them quickly!
Minpunten:
Perhaps the price model isn't something that favours start-ups.
Powerful tool when paired with web analytics data

Session recordings are great when trying to get in your users' shoes. You can get valuable insights which you wouldn't think of looking at web data.

I miss filtering that used to be available in the free version.

Amazing tool for website strategy
Opmerkingen: Overall, the experience with the software was positive. Although it is a bit complex to use, it has excellent features.
Pluspunten:
It was the best tool I've ever used to study the behavior of website users. It allows you to obtain incredible insights for the strategic management of websites.
Minpunten:
It is not very easy to use or configure. In terms of learning, it requires some time.
Hotjar - perfect tool for discovering what your users actually do on your website

can't find anything bad to say. haven't used all the features so maybe for me there is even too many features for me to use.
An awesome user research and feedback tool
Pluspunten:
An awesome user research and feedback tool with the most used features readily available. A clean look and a professional UX makes it my favourite tool. The free plan also has enough views/actions/events, allowing it for a good round of testing before going fully paid.
Minpunten:
I'd like more popup options, something similar to GetSiteControl.

Revenue First not Customer First Driven Company
Pluspunten:
The support team and user interface of Hotjar are first in class. Over the last 5 years I have seen the product grow to become an industry leader. It is easy to implement and execute on the insights gained with Hotjar. I used full hearty recommended this product to everyone I have met.
Minpunten:
On November 25th, their pricing policy update also impacted us legacy account holders. It used to be that you paid per Organization. Ie if your Organization had 4 sites you would be pay for 1 account. Also if you were a old customer you maintained your original terms. However with the move to Billing v2, it is now changed to per site and new terms. What does this mean, a minimum price increase of 400%. Example old rate of 9 EUR for Plus was applicable to all sites within that organization, if that organization only had 1 site then 9 EUR, now it is 39 EUR. Obviously the more sites / higher the tier upgrade you have the higher price increase. Unfortunately this is not a pricing policy I can endorse and hence want to make it very clear that I no longer support Hotjar. It is an abusive pricing policy change. While the pricing is a matter of perspective, I do believe Hotjar still provides great value, it unfortunately shows a change in attitude towards their customer based who have helped develop all their years. Today it might just be pricing, but what is next? No more customer support similarly to how Facebook does it.

Opmerkingen: Almost perfect, found some bugs while using it, but always had a good response from the customer team.
Pluspunten:
Hotjar is a tool that almost every optimizer or ux designer should use, no doubts. Is easy to use, cheap, and besides the famous heatmaps it has a lot of other functions like polls or user recordings. Also, the sharing function is great as you can share results with members of your organization that dont have an account.
Minpunten:
Lacks some integrations with other tools. For example with Google Analytics, a very useful function would be showing the Events on the heatmap.

capture the live user usage of your web product, and analyse the user experience
Opmerkingen: good experience, but i hope this dose not eat much of end users internet and hope it dos not reduces the web performance

It capture a video of the user screen who is using the web product which is integrated with hotjar and store's it in clean directory structure it also stores meta data information of the user session which is really help full in analytics good documentation
Minpunten:
the captured data back up is maintained only for 90 days, it wold be better if they provide a permanent storage plan and the meta data collected are in file formate and they also stay for 90 days, we had to write scripts to dump these data in to sql tables for further analysation it wold be better if they provide a simple API to do this they do provide a good documentation for this dumping proses

great website analytics and user behaviour tool

If you are into deep website analytics and user behaviour and want to get great insights, hotjar is a great tool.
Although i use several analytics tools I combine all data I got with hotjar insights that provide me with that extra info.
I use it on a daily basis. All the different features are great, like the screen recording that visually helps you see what your customers are doing on your website to the website.
Pluspunten:
1. Great website analysis features which are really easy to use and provide great insights: heatmaps that show you where users are clicking and navigating, visitor screen recording that show you have users are behaving on your website, feedback surveys, form analysis that show you have users are using your forms or detailed convertion funnels that show you where your users are dropping of.
Minpunten:
in general I really love all features hotjar has but I am missing one important feature to analyse user vs content performance which is the a/b testing feature.

I totally understand your comment around A/B testing as this is a natural next step in the process for a lot of people. However, we are 100% focused on building robust behavior analytics software that helps to understand user behavior and get the insights needed to make changes, so we have made a conscious decision not to invest in building A/B testing tools to validate if an approach is working or not. I wish I knew about this earlier!
Opmerkingen: Hotjar has been critical to our micro analytics. We have been able to go through customer journeys at the most specific way possible. By being able to view the screen recordings (and its plethora of features within that!) along with heatmaps, we were able to test our website rapidly.
Pluspunten:
Hotjar provides you with the analytics that google analytics or backend website analytics will never be able to provide you with. I loved how intuitive and simple the platform was, and how we were able to get the plan up and running, and analyzing in real time! Another key feature is integration. We were skeptical at first as we thought it might slow down the website with extra code, but by integrating it with google tag manager we were able to get it up and running fast. The pricing is very reasonable and we mainly benefited from the advanced features in the screen recording session!
Minpunten:
Sometimes the recordings failed to capture the specific nuances of the website. Essentially the website showed up differently on the recording page section.
If you need help understanding your users, this is the app!
Opmerkingen: I LOVE IT! Helped us find how users are looking at our website and what they find important. Super useful too.
Pluspunten:
Detailed heat maps and scroll maps that allow us to know what is working and what users are focusing on on our website. I also love the ability to view recordings and segment them by UTM. Makes it easier for us to see what's working and not working per marketing channel as well as how to fix inherent UX issues.
Minpunten:
I wish they made heat maps that segment by marketing channel like Crazy Egg. We have both and it's kinda a lot of money for both. I also dislike how it's hard to get iframes to be seen in recordings and remove HTML elements that we don't want to see in maps such as cookie banners.

Hotjar a good heatmap
Opmerkingen: I have made some heatmaps for my website show-my-homework. I used these heatmaps to improve the website for the readers.
Pluspunten:
Years ago I had a website (show-my-homework) that was taken from me with force. I am Romanian and in Romania no matter what you work, the authorities will force you to surrender your wealth and work to those that use the muscles and not the brain. I worked to this website for 5 years and 2 years I had on this website hotjar. Hotjar was saying to me who comes to my website, who reads my website, who wanted to learn, who clicks etc. Hotjar is very good and I love Hotjar for this.
Minpunten:
To make a heatmap with hotjar you have to wait for 1 day. This is not good, but after 1 day you will have a very good heat map. I do not love hotjar because you have to pay good money if you use it for 2 weeks :)

Great UX Tool
Opmerkingen: We use HotJar to run UX tests on our site. We've used it a lot for testing out new buttons or new navigation features.
Pluspunten:
We love running heatmap tests of pages whenever we make changes to our website. We compare these tests to former versions that we've ran. Heatmaps offer amazing insight to where the user clicks, scrolls, or mouses over. This gives you a good idea on how the user interacts with your site.
Minpunten:
Limited functionality unless you upgrade to the top tier account. We also aren't able to track our interactive experiences. I also wish the recordings had more filterable options so you could find specific experiences.

Hotjar is incredibly easy to setup. The learning curve is basically flat. The product is cheap and has a great free version.
Minpunten:
It can slow down your website without you noticing it. Look at Google Developer Tools, the time to interactive value.

Wow, What a Product!
Opmerkingen: Within an hour of integrating it into our site and CRM (which took only minutes), we were getting recordings of user visits and heat maps, greatly increasing our ability to quickly improve the performance of our website and marketing campaigns.
Pluspunten:
What DON'T I like about this software is more like it. I'm blown away that there's not more reviews for HotJar and am very happy to have spotted this opportunity to give them some love. HotJar is easily the best value-to-price behavior mapping software of its kind, and I've used and shopped for several of them. That pretty much sums it up. From heat mapping to visitor recordings to polling functionality, I simply haven't had to look for another solution since I found it, and it is much more cost-effective than its competitors. Its integrations that we have implemented have worked splendidly, as well. 5 stars, hands down.
Minpunten:
I'm only listing "cons" because I have to to submit this review. Some of its user interface wasn't completely intuitive to me at first but I overcame it quickly and don't think it's fair to expect every software program to not come with a little bit of a learning curve. Within a couple of days I was navigating it fluidly.

Essential app for web testing and user research
Opmerkingen: It's been crucial in giving us clarity in how people interact with our website, whether or not they're seeing essential pieces of content, and make design decisions based on that data.
Pluspunten:
We switched from CrazyEgg to Hotjar over a year ago, and haven't looked back. At the time, CrazyEgg didn't offer user videos (videos of people using our website) and Hotjar did, so we switched over. What I love most about Hotjar is that it's not just providing insights about how our users click and scroll via heatmaps, but I can gather more qualitative data by setting up polls or video recordings as well. The "share this heatmap" feature (where I can get a unique link to a heatmap that I can share with anyone on my team -- regardless of if they have access to Hotjar or not) is super handy as well. It helps me collaborate with our user researchers or send data to other teams (I sit on the web marketing team) when I find insights that they'd find valuable.
Minpunten:
I wish I could have more flexibility with the design and branding of the polls. The few times I've added one to our website, it looks a little frankenstein-y in comparison to the rest of our design.

A must have tool for websites optimization
Opmerkingen: Hotjar helped me detect some key elements that were causing a low conversion rate and a lot of abandoned checkouts on my website, without it I wouldn’t be able to detect and fix those issues by myself and I would have to hire a consultant to figure out what’s wrong. We were also able to run successful A/B tests with the help of hotjar because we use it to monitor which variant is outperforming the other by monitoring users behavior on each one.
Pluspunten:
Hotjar is quick and easy to install on any website, and it provides important insights through heat maps and users session recording that helps us better optimize our website to maximize conversions. The data that we get from hotjar is so important for us because based on it we decide what should we change or remove.
Minpunten:
The only downside to hotjar is the fact that it’s not possible to download recordings, I would love to have this option so I can download some sessions and have someone else take a look at them without giving full access.
Good heatmap and user click tracking
Opmerkingen: Overall, it provides valuable heatmap and users interaction tracking so we can optimized SEO. It stil is a little creepy though

It does what it is supposed to do. It shows where users are clicking on your site and gives good detailed information on how users interact with your site.
Minpunten:
It is a little creepy and any active tracking makes the site a little slower. Some users feel their privacy is violated and report it.

Powerful piece of kit
Opmerkingen: Very positive, would highly reccomend as a tool to improve site performance and to influence testing. Gives you key insights and analysis on the pain points of your site and can also add questionaire features which give invaluable information on how people find using your site.
Pluspunten:
Laden with features to help you better understand how users are interacting with your website to aid optimisations and CRO testing.
Minpunten:
Against more expensive tools can feel like it lags behind in terms of UX, and the constant emails about trivial results can be tiresome to receive.
