Templates ontbreken en word documenten kunnen niet geupload worden. Hierdoor ziet je bestand er minder professioneel uit.

Google Docs voor studenten

Opmerkingen: Over het algemeen is mijn ervaring met Google Docs positief. Toch voer ik de opmaak van mijn document liever uit in andere programma's zoals Microsoft Word. Ik gebruik Google Docs dus enkel om met meerdere personen in hetzelfde document te werken maar voor latere processen grijp ik terug naar andere programma's.

Pluspunten:

Het belangrijkste pluspunt, en ook de reden waarom ikzelf Google Docs gebruik, is om gemakkelijk samen met anderen in één document te werken. Google Docs is heel gebruiksvriendelijk, indien je iets niet kan vinden is er een 'help-tool' waarmee je vlot functies kan opzoeken en toepassen.

Minpunten:

Het nadeel met Google Docs is dat wanneer je het bestand omzet naar bijvoorbeeld een Word-bestand, de layout niet helemaal meer klopt. Er moet dus goed opgelet worden wanneer men bestanden wilt omzetten/opslaan of alles nog klopt.

Geweldig voor aantekeningen

Pluspunten:

Werkt heel goed voor snelle aantekeningen, een overzicht maken of een boekverslag; een echte aanrader.

Minpunten:

Soms werkt de zijbalk-functie niet op het moment dat ik wel wil dat hij werkt voor meer overzicht.

Best Free Web-Based Document Editor

Opmerkingen: Overall, I love using Google Docs. I have moved most of my day-to-day collaborative tasks to Google Docs. Once the product is in the final version, I usually move it to MS Word for finer editing and presentation, but all the work on content is done in Google Docs.

Pluspunten:

The interface is very intuitive, if you have used a word processor like Word before, you will find most things where you expect them to be. The system runs inside a browser and can function fully without any plugins, so it is almost entirely platform agnostic. Nothing changes from Mac to PC to Linux. Very easy to collaborate in real-time, editing together, making comments, adding people to make suggestions, assigning tasks. All of these are very simple to do. Integrates seamlessly with Google Drive and other Google products to make it easy to use/share.

Minpunten:

The app interface for mobile is not as intuitive. Compatibility with MS Word formats is hit or miss. Offline editing requires a plugin and is somewhat limited.

Google Docs - Review

Opmerkingen: It is my go-to platform to create, manage and share documents. Have been using it from the past 3+ years - highly recommend it over the Microsoft Word.

Pluspunten:

It is super duper user friendly, easy to integrate with other Google Apps/Productivity Tools, easy to share, store and manage.

Minpunten:

Can be used online only. Need to add additional plugins for some basic features, like arrange bullet points in ascending order.

Google Docs: Easy to use and share with team members

Opmerkingen: Google docs has become a must for us as we use it with Google Business and being able to export in different formats (mainly word) is key. Being able to share and edit the same document is also a really good feature Google Docs has.

Pluspunten:

We use Google docs probably every day and being able to share, comment and edit the same document is vital for us. Google Docs lets us do this with ease and being able to export as a Word document is also a great feature.

Minpunten:

Google has changed the way google Drive works with Google Docs. We use to love being able to drag and drop it the document into certain folders but they have changed the way they have let us do this - so it adds a few more steps to our process which is a bit annoying. And Google keep increasing the prices despite making certain features less useful.

Document generation and collaboration made seamless

Opmerkingen: Google Docs is a go to for work and document generation. The ability to seamlessly collaborate with anyone in the organization or third parties is crucial to my job. Its integration with other Google Drive software like Sheets or Slides is excellent too.

Pluspunten:

Google Docs is a very easy-to-use software. Integrated directly into Google Drive you can easily create and organize your documents. The ability to collaborate in real-time is exceptional and truly boosts productivity in group settings. Sharing documents and managing access is very simple and straight forward.

Minpunten:

Personally I am not a fan of the home screen where Google suggests which documents you are more likely to access. I prefer the default "My Drive" layout where it presents my documents exactly as I have organized them. No other complaints about this excellent tool.

A bonus within the Drive Implementation

Opmerkingen: We moved our storage to Google Drive, and didn't even plan on utilizing Docs and Sheets that much. But they've completely replaced Microsoft Word and Excel internally. We use it internally for WIP, collaboration content and just about everything. It was incredible to use when we shifted to a work from home style of working and we've all kept it going since returning to the office.

Pluspunten:

I love the ability to share and collaborate in real time within the document with our team. The ease of sharing a document within our Drive team, as well as clients that aren't using Drive is an incredible resource that our whole agency utilizes.

Minpunten:

I'm struggling to find a downside about Google Docs. We love it internally and have never run into an issue sharing the files externally.

Google Docs Is User-Friendly and Secure

Opmerkingen: Overall, Google Docs is a superior experience to using other documentation type services. The best feature about Google Docs is its autosave and the ability to access it from the Google Drive app on my phone.

Pluspunten:

I like how user friendly Google Docs are with generating a new document, spell check, word count, and autosave. I also like being able to access my Google Doc from my Google Drive anywhere through the Google Drive app on my Google Pixel phone.

Minpunten:

I can't retrieve previous versions of the document. For example, if I delete something and then want to go back to it, I can't because Google Doc doesn't save previous versions.

Not perfect as a word processor, but the gold standard for collaboration

Opmerkingen: Google Docs is the gold standard for document collaboration and sharing. You can send a link so that everyone always sees the latest file (instead of emails bouncing back and forth), you can give and get and accept feedback. Word is the better processor, but OneDrive is unreliable at best for filesharing and the collaborative features in OneDrive are just awful. For anything that will be seen by anyone but me, Google Docs is all I use.

Pluspunten:

Google Docs makes it SO easy to collaborate with others on documents, give, request, and incorporate comments, and share files that can be updated in realtime. For collaboration and sharing, Google Docs is the only platform I use.

Minpunten:

As a word processor, it doesn't have all the great features that Word has. It's not ideal for creating a new document if you need a lot of formatting options (ESPECIALLY tables, which are a nightmare in Docs). Luckily, you can always just upload a document you've created in Word to Docs and it does a pretty good job keeping formatting.

Great alternative to online blackboards and note-taking apps!

Opmerkingen: It is just "Oh my goodness!" Stupid simple and immensely inspiring! Useful. Helpful. Adorable.

User-friendly, flexible, responsive, customizable and overwhelmingly great! Easy-to-use on Linux OS (my OS - Ubuntu Budgie 18.04.5 LTS (Bionic Beaver), I am a PC user). I really like their multiple functions, such as: creating complex documents with tables, different splendid fonts, background colors, in bold and cursive fonts. Flexible and comfy using bullet points or ordered listing, page numbering, first-line indentation, interline spacing. Adjustable using hyperlinks and styles deleting. It is fast and easy to create, share and delete documents, modify them, download and save in .doc or .pdf. It is absolutely free, stable, secure and trustworthy service which is indispensable for e-learning, edutainment, studies, research work and online tutoring. Besides, you can use this spectacularly simple service as a note-taking app or even a draft of your blog or bullet journal! Whatever you want to type down: bucket list, to-do list, grocery list, motivation letter draft, CV or resume, it is always comfy, flexible and useful! Easy to use, easy to customize, easy to modify, save, download and delete! I have not mentioned other functions as inserting some files (pictures) or creating slides or optical character recognition, but I have never checked these functions, that's why I have described just common functionality which is pleasant and helpful for any task completion! As I said: it is smart, simple and impressively good! I am really grateful that such a service exists.

Well, for some weird reason I cannot check for sure how OCR works there. Besides, my hardware is a little bit outdated, that's why something like "inserting pictures" might malfunction on my OS.

Great word processor for Offline and Online team working with rich features

Opmerkingen: It’s a real business handy text and document editor and a great word processor that I use every day via my mobile and tablet everywhere and I've continued my writing and editing via my desktop pc in the office. It saves you time and the result you get is great because it also exports docs to PDFs and other common files. It helps a lot in creating articles and writing official letters and it is a very fast and smart word editor.

Pluspunten:

It has all the features needed to edit and create a text and create a new document, and when you write the new text or edit any document is automatically saved, and if you are connected to the Internet, it is stored in the cloud, and if you do not have Internet access, it is saved on your device, then It is automatically saved and synced in Google Cloud after connecting to the Internet. Files are always available offline or you can access to the via Google Doc cloud storage anytime, anywhere and all these premium features are completely free, and you can always back up, edit or share files and documents with anyone easily.

Minpunten:

In my opinion, since Google Doc automatically saves edited documents, it should always have a backup copy of the original version that can be accessed if necessary.

Don't know what I did before Google docs!

Opmerkingen: In my business – we always needed a working document for copy – so it used to be sending a Word doc back and forth via email -saving over or saving a bunch of different versions of the document each time. Now with google docs, I can give someone access – and remove them if I like too. We can edit the document in real-time and there’s no way of it being lost! It's automatically saved and backed up on the cloud.

Pluspunten:

I honestly don’t even know what we did in business without Google Docs. I use it in my business every single day. I love being able to create documents and share them with my team or clients. Edit them in real-time and leave comments. I love how easy it is to use and that changes are saved automatically. I love that I can share it or keep it private – enable editing permission or not. It was so easily integrated into my business, like I say, I don’t know how I managed without it!

There is really nothing that I dislike about Google Docs. I have yet to find a reason to dislike it. Other companies have tried but they simply cannot compete.

I LOVE Google Docs

Opmerkingen: We do a lot of document creation , sharing and modifying and this allows my team to create outstanding work that is clean looking and complete. I can't see an instance that we would move away from Google Docs.

I love how this software allows our entire team to be on the same page. Definitely the best program I've used for team collaboration The ability to view it while mobile is huge as well , we aren't tied down to our desktops anymore The simplicity of so many options that it offers is really tough to beat. This will service anyone who is new to advanced.

Google Docs: User Friendly, But Room for Improvement

Opmerkingen: Overall, it is a great experience that I've had with Google Docs, as well as other Google Apps! But, because I use the Google Docs app the most on my day-to-day at work, it makes it really the best one, as well as more enjoyable and painless to have the app work so well and cater to so many of my needs.

Pluspunten:

I love how easy it is to access, as well as how easy it is to use. If you already have a Google Account set up, the Google Docs is so easy to find in the Google Apps options, mainly because the graphic/button is so clear on what it is - it's a little document cartoon! Additionally, if there's something I'm unsure about, I can easily use the "Help" button in the toolbar to figure out how to do what I'm looking for, with it highlighting exactly where to find it so it not only solves it for me but shows me how to find and access it next time. Finally, it's really aesthetically pleasing and the formatting options are great for both first-time-users, as well as more advanced Google App users. Overall, I'm so happy to be using Google Docs because for my job, I have to use it daily, and it makes it so much more enjoyable to do my job if I'm able to easily use the tools given to me.

One thing that I think Google Docs can improve on, is the function of the cursors and doc when multiple people are using it at once. A lot of the time when my colleagues and I are all taking notes on one doc, the formatting easily can get messed up because we're all writing on it at once. I'm unsure how this can be improved, but I think that switching to so you can't be writing on the same line would be super helpful! Like disabling two cursors from typing at the same time on the same line or something?

Cloud-based, free, and easy to use for everyone

Opmerkingen: Overall, Google Docs is a great product. It offers real-time collaborating with other users, including those who do not have a gmail account. Combined with the other features offered by Google (like chat), it allows for seamless collaborating on anything. Throw in the fact it's free and cloud-based, you have a winning product. You can access Google Docs on any device, including kindles with a little ingenuity (it's just a bit of a pain to get to with kindles). I highly recommend it for anyone who needs a free word processor and wants something with all the abilities of MS Office.

Google docs has a lot of benefits. You can download/upload files into docs with a few simple clicks. Copy/pasting from a word processor into docs is simple and causes little to zero formatting issues. And what issues do happen, are easily fixed with only a click or two of the mouse. You can do any and all editing, previewing, even printing or sharing with docs. If you are collaborating with someone else (or multiple people), you can see what's being written in real-time without any issues. Combine it with gmail or even google chat, and you can make collaborating with your fellow users with seamless ease. I've been using google's entire suite from when gmail was by invite only (I'm telling my age here LOL). Google docs has only improved over the years and continues to get better, not worse. There are zero fees (unless you choose to up your storage space). And you get access to a version of the basics found in MS Office. Only easier to use with all the same options. Google Docs has been my go-to for writing. It's cloud-based, I can do all the needed formatting, and it's easy to share to anyone, including people who don't have a gmail account. You can even upload a doc/docx file and convert it to a google doc with only a few clicks, without loosing the formatting. That feature alone makes life a lot easier when you want to edit something on the go.

Minpunten:

Sometimes when you copy/paste from Word or another word processor, the formatting goes wonky. You have to either reformat the entire section, or remove the formatting in that section. It's a few extra needless steps. Aside from that? I've encountered few issues with Docs.

Google Docs is for document sharing what slack is for team communication

Opmerkingen: Overall, Google Docs is a godsend for document productivity in a team setting. It allows for seamless collaboration in real-time and obviates the need to have a complicated workflow just to update your documents. If the entire team is using chrome and has little need for offline access, then it's a no-brainer. Teams using different browsers or working heavily offline, may need to go through a few more steps to end up with the right results, but it's still possible.

Pluspunten:

We take for granted how amazing it is that an entire team can work on a document in real-time without having to own multiple copies of the same document. Not long ago, the process consisted of saving local copies on your desktop, making a change, saving it with a new name, sending it over email, and then making sure the right document was stored in the cloud. It's primarily due to Google Docs that this paradigm has changed. The tool works as you expect, hiding all of the complexity behind a simple to understand UI that's mostly familiar to anyone that's used Office or any other document suite. The tool's collision avoidance has been fine-tuned to work really well even with many people working on a document at the same time. And with the ability to leave comments and its integration with google drive, there's not much else the tool is missing. It's an essential tool for any team.

At first, Google Docs suffered from not having some of the more advanced features that a desktop editor would have, but it's progressively evolved to have most of what a team would need. It's biggest friction point comes with offline work. Since it's dependent on a browser, you'll need to go through a few extra steps to download a plugin and enable a few settings. Some browsers may also not have all of the complement of features as Google Docs is very chrome-centric.

Even Better than Microsoft Word

Opmerkingen: For work purposes, I frequently use Google Docs to create files that I need my employees or colleagues to collaborate on. Everyone can access and edit through a link, even if they don't have a Gmail account to sign into. I often work with faculty to help them set up collaborate documents for class, or to show their students how to use Google Docs and similar Google products for their group work and share with their professor so they can check on their progress as needed.
It has eliminated the need to email versions of files back and forth.

Pluspunten:

It's always improving, either in response to features that comparable software (MS Word, Open Office) has added or in response to user requests. We asked for columns; they gave it to us. It's quite user-friendly and works well with imports and exports from/to MS Word. This is extremely important to me because I'm a Chromebook user so Google Docs is all my laptop uses but when I download a copy in MS Word to upload assignment submissions for my doctoral courses, it works perfectly. I'm actually doing my entire dissertation in GoogleDocs. I love that you can look up the version history- it makes it easy to find any missing text from an accidental deletion or misedit, and also to track who did what if everyone is signed in with a Gmail account.

Nothing, really. Even if features don't exist, there's nearly always a free Add-On via the Chrome store. For example, I wanted a quick way to turn text into alternate capitalization types (all lowercase, all uppercase, title case, invert, etc.) I found a quick add-on and I have a short-cut. I've also added add-ons like a more extensive chart builder for in-text charts and tables and a Word Cloud Generator, which not only creates an image but gives me a word count of each word occurrence to help me do text analysis.

The standard for collaborative document management

Opmerkingen: The benefits are almost beyond description, online learning would quite literally not be the same without this.

Concurrent editing with multiple users across the world becomes effortles, and happens almost without a thought. Simultaneous contribution from disparate areas is indispensable for academic, professional, and personal uses. The enterprise and academic implementations carry all of the same power as the open GMail versions and the default permissions sets are remarkably powerful for broader permission sets. In terms of comparisons to existing services, Google Docs leaves most of them in the dust (looking at you SharePoint...) and has continued to improve over time. The implementations of additional tools (such as Paperpile for academic uses) further expands the capability - although sticking with continually updated and supported tools is going to be preferable.

The biggest 'con' isn't actually a con - the expectation of such effortless collaboration become pervasive, and moving back to networks that do not allow for Google Docs collaboration become frustrating by comparison, which is an astonishing way of describing how transformational the GDocs capability is for most users. As far as actual cons, the feature management and UI does seem vary over time, which for some users can be quite a bit frustration. The biggest in-application limitation I've found is that the Chat isn't persistent, but the only way of discovering this is the hard way - namely losing valuable information that isn't stored anywhere. In practice the workaround of using comments for the same function is not really problematic, but implementing a chat where collaboration is a stated goal but not having persistent messages feels incredibly myopic. Small complaints include the shared noise with Hangouts - as a user it's intuitive to understand that the same underlying platform enables both, however stovepiping the two functionally yet failing to leverage a lot of the side benefits of the Hangouts platform is an easy solution that may yet be implemented, but at the time of the review it is not. The support applications, particularly smaller niche ones will break from time to time, which is unfortunate. Finally, the offline and mobile versions do vary in terms of quality of UI flow, although it's a familiar enough setup for android users to intuit.
