Makes for very easy regualr backups

Opmerkingen: Very good. We trialled a few different options but this was the best one.

Pluspunten:

Once it is set up properly you don't need to touch it again. If a problem occurs, it gives you a notification and is fixed easy.

Minpunten:

Indicating which files and folders to back up can be a pain. By default, it backs up heaps of things that don't need backing up.

Great for Baking Up Data

Opmerkingen: If Carbonite changed those two factors I mentioned as cons, I would feel way more confident recommending them to friends because I do like the affordable plan and how easy it is to backup files compared to competitors. And like I mentioned, I also like how they will back up your external hard drive which a competitor I was looking at does not do.

Pluspunten:

As a backstory, I was talking to our tech advisor about our need for backing up our data. While I ensure that I back up my data through my external hard drive, I also know that my external hard drive can go kaput as all of them do eventually. So I mentioned to our tech guy that I feel like we need a cloud storage but I wasn't too fond of Dropbox or Google Drive. He had similar sentiments and recommended Carbonite. He said he uses it with a number of clients with good results. So I took the plunge with their Black Friday deal that included backup for my computer and external hardrive. Pros: I liked that it backed up all of my data itself and that I didn't have to do it manually. The only thing I need to do manually is for my future data and the process is SUPER simple even for the tech-challenged. I also liked that there was the mid-tier option (the one I chose) that backs up your external hard drive. You get unlimited storage for the tier I chose which is not true of Dropbox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, and others.

Minpunten:

I don't like that I can't easily access my data to see with my own eyes that my data is backed up which is very different than OneDrive, GoogleDrive, and Dropbox that I can pull up at any time my backup files. I can't tell how good Carbonite is at backing up the files until something goes wrong which makes me nervous. I don't like that if my external hard drive isn't connected for 30 days, the data is wiped out. What if I'm taking a break from my technology and don't have it hooked up? What if I'm using a different computer at the time because my original laptop and backup hard drive are getting repaired? That made me feel uneasy.

Reliable Software that provides piece of mind

Opmerkingen: I really liked it until they implemented the HUGE price increase. Perhaps it was a problem with just that one employee but they definitely need to get better at communicating changes to their customers. I'll be switching to a more cost effective product once our subscription is up.

Pluspunten:

Ease of install - It is extremely easy to deploy Carbonite. I have installed it on our Windows 10 workstations as well as our server VMs running Windows Server 2012. Each time the process is quick and simple. I also like the custom updates it provides on backup status. It also lets you customize backup policies for each individual device to optimize utilization.

Minpunten:

They wanted to increase our yearly cost by more than 50% with minimal account upgrades. Our account was set to renew automatically at this increased price with no warning. An account rep reached out to me a 6-8 weeks ahead of our renewal date but wouldn't respond until we were about 2 weeks out. At that time he informed me our price was going up. The strange thing was that under billing it still showed the price we had been paying for the past six years, and showed we would be charged the same amount again on our renewal date. If he hadn't mentioned it on the call they would have charged us the new price without informing us until we received the receipt. I really did not like that their system was showing one price but they planned to spring another on us.

Carbonite for personal or small business

Opmerkingen: Complete system restoration was a huge problem solver. Also real time continuous synched back up helped immensely for incidents such as accidental deletion.

Pluspunten:

The product was easy to implement and configure. The best features were continuous synchronous backup, and backup with encryption. It also had a feature to back up the entire system that could be used to restorer after a hardware failure.

Minpunten:

The features were never a problem, however the pricing model changed significantly that made the prodcut unaffordable to my business and my clients.

Carbonite - Great solutiuon for protection!

Opmerkingen: Awesome. I ave had to use the backups to recover failed drives, and ransomed disks.

Pluspunten:

The software is easy to setup. It allows the individual to set up different backups. Incremental (daily), full (weekly or daily). Support is great and very helpful. You can encrypt the backups. Carbonite checks the backups on a continuous basis for ransomware.

Minpunten:

By default it selects the folders for you. This is OK, but not all folders need backed up. It is easy to unselect the folders.

Carbonite backup solution

Opmerkingen: Overall this software runs well. Again after a few adjustments with the policy, the backup solution runs at full throttle uploading data based on your specifications. The restore options are also wonderful and take less time than other backup solutions.

Pluspunten:

Carbonite endpoint backup solution has ease of deployment and policy settings. Once you set it up correctly based on your companies values, carbonite does the rest.

Minpunten:

Coming off of the trial and into production it seemed that policy settings where missed. It would have been beneficial for carbonite to explain more in depth about restrictions within their policy settings. After a few phone calls back and forth everything seems to be running well. Communication to the customer is key

I've Tried Others But Came Back To Carbonite

Opmerkingen: Overall, you get what you pay for with data backup. I quit Carbonite for a couple of years and struggled. I finally came back to them this last year and felt such relief when I implemented the program.

Pluspunten:

Carbonite is easy to implement. I don't have to worry about it keeping my data safe with the automatic backups.

Minpunten:

It's a little more expensive than some of the others.

Carbonite is a Valuable Tool

Opmerkingen: I have been using Carbonite for Years and the Customer Service is 5 star and the software will auto backup all your data all day long just set it and forget it.

Pluspunten:

I have used Carbonite for a long time and recommend to all my business customers because it is the most reliable backup on the market and easy to use.

Minpunten:

The pricing is a little expensive but it is a Great Product

Industry standard tool, with good encryption options

Pluspunten:

Able to encrypt with higher-level encryption keys than alternatives like Backblaze, which was a requirement for the business. Continuous background tool is one of the smoothest-operating I've worked with - files backup on a regular basis without user interaction, and tracks version history for easy rollback for 30 days.

Minpunten:

The online portal is very slow, and doesn't add much value to the tool.

Set it and forget it while having peace of mind

Opmerkingen: I've had them for over 10 years in my personal computer and I've been very happy. I didn't care for the business version so chose not to use it for my business as there are other products that offer a better value.

Pluspunten:

Once you configure your initial backup, Carbonite will take care of everything for you on auto pilot. New files and changed files will automatically be backed up without you having to remember to. Restoring files after a catastrophic hard drive failure took a while due to the size of the backup but worked well.

Minpunten:

Price has been increasing steadily over the years without adding value, other providers are now more competitive price wise.

Buyer beware !!!

Opmerkingen: Last year I dumped my external backup drive to have a "more secure" off site backup alternative. (BIG MISTAKE) I saw many promotions on their service, everything made sense. Cost was reasonable and all that. So I enrolled. Made sure that all my files were backed up through their app and all of that.
One day My hard drive crashed... OMG,,, well no worries, Carbonite has my files backed up. I proceeded to restore my files. Surprisingly I noticed that my restore was going WAY SLOOOOOW. I diagnosed my network, new hard drive and internet connection. I have 400 mbps internet service... Well I found our that after all my download was not exceeding 3 mbps. I proceeded to call tech support and after many attempts and escalations the told me that that was the maximum throughput I will ever need. That no matter which plan I enrolled their technology will not allow for greater speed because they do one file at the time,,, they encrypt and then decrypt,,,, they cant do it any faster.
So, be prepared to wait weeks for your download to complete. Just don't expose yourself to this scam... It will NOT save you when you really need it.

Pluspunten:

Price and easy to configure. Customer support was very courteous and professional

Minpunten:

It doesn't perform as advertised and/or expected. Restore function takes forever no matter how much bandwidth you have available.

Good experience with Home version, poor experience with Business version

Opmerkingen: I purchased two separate licenses at the same time. One was for my home and another for my business. I have been satisfied with the home version, but ended up cancelling my business license after a year. I just kept getting error after error. Each time I called customer support, they had me uninstall then reinstall the software. It never fixed the problem. Eventually, I gave up calling customer support because they didn't try anything new. I don't really know that the difference is between the two, but I had nothing but trouble with the version installed on my work server. The home version, on the other hand, has worked great. It runs quietly in the background. I gave my parents a license for Christmas one year, and they have enjoyed the piece of mind knowing their files are being backed up.

Pluspunten:

The home version works great. I like the ability to access my files remotely from any computer with internet connection.

Minpunten:

When running, this Carbonite slows down my computer a little. However, I understand this is a problem with all cloud based backup storage.

Reliable Choice

Opmerkingen: I have used Carbonite with the exception of one short period for over 10 years. It has gotten me back up through crashes and new computers flawlessly.

Pluspunten:

I have tried another "famous" product and found it extremely difficult to get everything backed up. With Carbonite I can see the status immediately and change settings as needed without having to go through a number of pages.

Minpunten:

Not anything. Having used this product for over 10 years I have never had a complaint or recommendation for improvement. This software performs exactly as advertised and as I need.

Reliable

Opmerkingen: Overall this is a great product for adding another method of backup to your files for a good price.

Pluspunten:

I like that this software is very reliable. It is working in the background constantly updating all new files. Not only that, but it doesn't slow down the computer while doing it which is a huge plus in my book. I've had many other software programs slow my computer down and I end up ditching them. If we accidentally delete a file, we can go into Carbonite and recover it.

Minpunten:

A couple downsides to this is that if you do happen to lose your information, it takes a long time to download all of the files back onto your computer. Another downside is that Cabonite does not backup any files that have the symbol ~ in the name. I use this often to put certain commonly used files up at the top of list for quick access.

Carbonite keeps your information safe

Opmerkingen: Carbonite is a great product that's very reasonably priced and does an excellent job backing up your information. We have personally relied on them more than once to backup information that was lost in a computer crash and we have never been disappointed.

Pluspunten:

Carbonite makes keeping a record of your valuable information extremely easy and reliable. In the past when we have had a computer crash and vital information was lost from the unit we were able to easily find and backup the information from Carbonite.

Minpunten:

We really have not had any negative experience with using Carbonite. It is easy to set up and to download your lost information.

Good backup software for personal or home use

Opmerkingen: Peace of mind knowing my files are backed up.

Pluspunten:

- You can back up an unlimited amount of photos, music, and files. - You can easily see what files are included in the backup, and easily add more files. - Backup is continuous, you don't have to check it or worry about it. - Overall a good backup solution. I have not had any problems or errors.

Minpunten:

- It takes forever to retrieve your files. I am restoring files from my old computer to my new one. It has been going for about three WEEKS and it is now at 83%. However, if I needed one particular file right away, I could search for and download that one sooner.

Carbonite has been there for me through a few system crashes - had my date backed up and ready to go

Opmerkingen: Great backup of my work - only downside was slow in getting them loaded back.

Pluspunten:

Carbonite was my safety net when my system crashed. I have created a LOT of marketing material over time and it is imperative to have a backup system. I was able to find the files I needed and load them back. Their phone line customer service was also top-notch the one time I called. They were professional and helpful and had me up and running quickly.

Minpunten:

The main detriment is that if you have a lot of large files it will take you a long time even with fast upload speed to get your files loaded back.

I can get support to help me

Opmerkingen: it a saturday so i asume the level 3 tech are not working and no one can hepl me reinstall the sofware...so right now my last back up was 10/31/18 and its 3/23/19 ...ouch

Pluspunten:

that it backs up my files on my computer?

Minpunten:

its does not work, the software stops working and does not back up my computer. the last time it backed up my computer was Oct 31 and it March 23. so I call support spend an hour trying to get them to reinstall the software. and the said i need a level 3 tech to do so. so they are going to call me back in the mean time the software is off line right now ... this is crazy.

Carbonite

Opmerkingen: Overall I have loved Carbonite. It gives great peace of mind and is very affordable.

Pluspunten:

I love this software! It is so easy to use and gives great peace of mind that my documents are stored. I like how you don't have to do anything but simply let the software run in the background.

Minpunten:

It can take Carbonite quite a bit of time to restore documents after a factory reset of the computer. While I understand that a lot of files take time, it does seem that there can be some duplicates that don't need to happen.

Used for years without a problem

Opmerkingen: Carbonite was a fairly reliable product. Sometimes it had glitches which required that I had to uninstall and reinstall product to get it working again.

Pluspunten:

I felt safe having Carbonite in place to securely backup my data on a daily basis.

Minpunten:

I did not like not having the ability to file share. The initial set up to backup all our files took forever to complete and it affected the use of the computer while it was transferring data.

Great in the background back-up

Opmerkingen: It has been very good and reliable. I don't even have to think about it.

Pluspunten:

I love that it backs up everything on my computer automatically to the cloud. I would not remember to manually backup my computer often enough to save myself from a hard drive failure. I also like to be able to access any file from my phone at any time.

Minpunten:

I wish that I could download multiple files at once when I go into Remote Access. I can only get one at a time.

Carbonite Cloud Backup

Opmerkingen: It did the job when we switched to new machines but it's not the easiest program from a general user perspective. Designed more for the IT folks at bigger companies.

Pluspunten:

Carbonite automatically backs up your entire user files making it easier to transfer between an old or disabled PC and a new machine if you have tech experience.

Minpunten:

Restore option takes a fairly long time and isn't as clear as it could be as to how to restore to the same directories as you had.

An essential product for anyone with critical information stored on their computer

Pluspunten:

Very easy to use. We first started using Carbonite about 7 years ago when we lost our entire hard drive to a virus. Unfortunately, we hadn't signed up for the service prior but we quickly learned our lesson and have used since.

Minpunten:

I've never been a fan of monthly subscriptions. I would rather buy the product and purchase additional storage if needed. Other than that it is a great product.

Best cloud backup

Pluspunten:

I love Carbonite for backing up my files on my computer. The thing I love best about it is that I literally don't have to do anything. My files are backed up every day on their own. The files are also accessible from any computer if you sign into your account.

Minpunten:

Only drawback I would say is that sometimes it takes a little while for the files to download onto the cloud.

Great Product!

It is so easy and works so well. I have had a computer crash and was thankfully already using Carbonite. It was so simple to load everything on the new computer. It is absolutely worth the money.

Minpunten:

I don't like when they contact me to try to upsell new products. The one I have works great for me. I wish I could opt-out​ of promotional emails, but I also think others can benefit from the other products so I understand why they do it.
