I really love the enhanced security features of Dunda BI. I can easily set up authentication for my users and choose who can have access to either view or edit.

Minpunten:

Dundas BI is a great tool but sometimes I find it too overwhelming because it has a lot of advanced features that other Business Intelligence tools do not have and that leads to a high learning curve

Powerfully Intuitive: A Review of Dundas BI

Good product to integrate Ad Hoc Reporting into SaaS software

Opmerkingen: I think the general help and assistance from Exago has been good so far, we are kept up to date with version releases and we have a regualr dialogue with their team which is good to see.

Pluspunten:

We reviewed a selection of tools on the market and we felt the Exago was the product best fit our needs based on cost and functionality. We implemented Exago as a reporting tool for our customers to run real time reports and have graphical dashboards on their home screens as a kind of snapshot summary. Exago gives you the ability to create a suite of reports ready for customers to use and export in range of formats. You can also give customers express reporting so that they can tailor their own reports however this isn't something we have done just yet but will look to do so in the future. Were overall satidfied with the product and were looking forward to working with Exago in recommending further features and improvements.

Minpunten:

The dashboards take an incredibly long time to load and there doesn't seem to be a simple solution for fixing this just yet. Improved Map reporting would be a great addition, a number of our clients wish to view data on maps and this seems to be very limited at the moment. The UI of the dropdown filter boxes could be improved and it would be good if you could return back to your filter options after running a report if you wish to amend rather than having to run another report.

Developer-Grade Analytics Toolkit

Opmerkingen: We have authored a reporting and dashboard solution composed of 350+ reports/dashboards, and deployed that solution to clients across the U.S. and Australia. Our application is updated automatically every evening (thanks to the ease of distributing the code generated in Logi), so our clients always have the LATEST version of our solution available. We have deployed Logi servers on-premise, in the cloud (AWS and Azure), and used it to access both SQL and REST data sources.

Pluspunten:

Tremendous flexibility and control of the "user-experience" for the solution that you develop with Logi. Can access data from a huge variety of datasources, both traditional and emerging big data and cloud. Visual development interface which creates underlying text-based code, which allows easy manipulation both for development as well as 'mass-change' editing. Text-based code is small in size and easy to distribute to remote sites for a distributed solution if required. Obfuscation of the code protects your intellectual property in the case of a commercial deployment. Developer-grade debugging capabilities greatly assist in isolating issues for quick remediation.

Minpunten:

Logi offers a broad range of solutions, and sometimes it can be confusing to know if new features/capabilities are available for your use under your current licenses.

Exago - Great for SaaS products

Pluspunten:

• Includes Report Building capabilities that can be utilised by the client. • All report building is completed within the browser – no downloads required. • Includes Dashboards. • Includes ability for clients to build dashboards within the browser. • Strong permissions structure, that means you can explicitly say which users can see what. • No data access layer – this is entirely managed within the client, which means no replication of login data. • Reports are built based on a ‘model’, built from our database • Includes software upgrades – easy to implement • Support provided via telephone or Zen Desk • Report Building capabilities – can replicate current functionality. • Option to download a trial version of the software. • No SQL Licence required. • If we end the licence, we have 12 months grace to transfer to another solution.

Minpunten:

• Support Hours – These are 8am – 6pm EST (We are a UK-based business) • Costs – cheaper than Reporting Services with BI, but much more expensive than Telerik, Synchfusion and similar. • Server / hardware requirements

Powerful tool with higher overhead

Opmerkingen: Dundas is a fantastic company that really seems to care about their product and their customers.

Pluspunten:

The tool can do anything you want. I don't think I've gotten one "no" since I started asking about capabilities.

Minpunten:

The time needed to implement some features is high. And if you need to make changes to it later, you typically have to re-do a decent number of steps in the middle of the process (not on the dashboards, but in the data cubes that underlie them).

Great Value, Strong Feature Set

Built in time period over period analysis, built in correlation matrices, ability to auto export data in various forms to excel, pdf, or other formats.

Minpunten:

There is no "undo" button on some pages,which makes error recovery more difficult. However, the company has already indicated they are working on a fix for this.

Easiest embbeded BI application to use and integrate out there

The ease of use of the ExpressViews for our less tech-savvy users

Minpunten:

It is missing some features when it comes to parameter selections for a report, like multi selection in a parameter.

Impressive BI platform is provided by Dundlas BI.

Pluspunten:

More than 80 different data sources are accessible to me! Dundlas BI is simply amazing. a fantastic, feature-rich business intelligence tool. Both Tableau and Dundlas BI have been used by me. But to be completely honest, I think Dundlas BI is much easier to use. Any organisation looking for a BI tool should use this, in my opinion.

Minpunten:

The only shortcoming of Dundlas BI is that it cannot create customised infographics as quickly as Tableau. In addition, Dundlas BI holds up well against other BI tools that are currently available.

A steep learning curve, with great reward at the end of it.

Pluspunten:

Dundas is a conglomeration of expertly coded dashboard development tools and infrastructures. The thing I like most about Dundas is that they are very helpful, the gentleman assigned to me to educate me in the ways of Dundas, was one I will never forget to this day, he was calm, helpful, understanding and with his help I learned Dundas in no time. I like the way Dundas structure's its Dashboard development, it starts with virtual tables, where the programmer can manually or automatically generate SQL queries, these queries are then used for the basis of adding statistical flavour to the Dashboard, the way this is done is very straight forward. Dundas has a steep unforgiving learning curve, but when you master the fundamentals, the sky really is the limit. Also their support service is world class, the representatives will assist you in any way they can, they will help you understand what the issue you are facing is and provide a resolution. If they cant help you via email, they will 'WebEx' you, i.e skype call with 2 way screen control. Everything in Dundas is customizable, charts, graphs and other statistical data can be glossed up and made to look as simple or as plush as the user envisions. You can add formulae, trend analysis and other key statistical methods are employed by Dundas. They have charts for Finance, Risk analysis and other key statistical methodologies. All of these charts can be jazzed up with scripts so that you can Drill down and filter through the data you want in order to get the right Business Intelligence feel to your work. Dundas supports the Data Cube, It supports Microsoft, Oracle, MySQL, EXCEL, it has export capabilities onto Excel, so those clients which prefer their data in Spreadsheets can manually export directly from the dashboard. Everything in Dundas is designed to give you the most professional feel possible at all times!

Minpunten:

Dundas, for the good of it's users needs to publish more comprehensive educational equipment to train it's users, it is very hard to get to an expert level in Dundas without some help from your Friends in Dundas. I would love to see Dundas publish university style lectures, with step by step guides that show every aspect of the working sphere. With adequate educational material, one would be able to gain adept or even artisan status with the Tool on their own.

Exago works for SaaS companies looking to integrate Ad Hoc Reporting

Pluspunten:

We implemented Exago as an Ad Hoc Reporting tool for our customers, to go beyond the built-in reports we already provide. Exago gives them the flexibility to build their own quick ("Express") reports, create advanced and highly formatted reports, create dashboards, charts, and pivots, and to schedule reports to be automatically generated and mailed to a specified group of people. It was straightforward to integrate it with our platform, give customers a filtered view of just their own data, and customize the product for our specific needs. We evaluated a number of competing products and Exago was the winner for features, integration, and pricing.

Minpunten:

Many of the products in this category are true Business Intelligence platforms, designed to be used by professionals in large corporate or organizational settings. But our customers are regular people, often volunteers, without professional training in complex software. The help is generally good and there are lots of video tutorials. But it would be nice if Exago had more wizards to step users through setting up a more complex report.

Dundas BI - Much more than a BI tool

Opmerkingen: Overall experience is very good, I like that there is nothing that can't be done with this tool, with regards to user requirements.

Pluspunten:

Best thing about Dundas BI is that it is very extendable to user needs and it can accomplish a lot more in a very short development time, comparing to other BI tools on the market which are not so extendable and easy to use. You can also build more than a dashboard with Dundas BI, you can also create software as a service applications with complex navigation systems and all sorts of rules applied to the visualizations and it's data. Speaking of data, it also has a very powerful ETL engine that enables data transformation without needing to know SQL or other query languages.

Minpunten:

These is not much to dislike at this tool but if I have to come up with an answer, I will say that the complexity of options for every visualization could be a dislike because it is very time consuming to find everything in the properties tab of each type of viz. This also may be a big like because it enables you to customize everything pixel perfect.

Not just a scalable Analytics Tool .. a trustworthy partner to support your business.

Opmerkingen: There is nothing we do not like about the system or the support team at Exago. The Customer Support and management team involvement is beyond the norm. As a start-up with limited resources, we underestimated our effort and were fortunate Exago were there to help. Take advantage of an open and transparent team, and make sure YOU have a clear understanding of your current challenges and discuss with them openly. They are not a heavy duty sales team so take advantage of that early on and you will have a system second to none in a very short period of time.

Pluspunten:

We started with Exago two years ago, around the same time as we launched our own system. At the time our clients were small and our reporting requirements fairly simple so our decision was primarily based on affordability. We could not have made a better choice, then or now. We now have larger clients and one in particular who is amazingly complex in their business (Global Logistics), now bringing in data from their legacy systems and looking to this company to report on their Operational Risk. Exago has been there every step of the way helping us grow and making our clients secure in their choice of a small start-up to push information to their global stakeholders.

Minpunten:

We are still expanding our reach and any questions we have had were either easily answered, or on their roadmap.

Good Value, but not the best

Opmerkingen: Overall, the product is working as intended. Like anything else, as you get more comfortable with it & start to learn the quirks it becomes a little like second nature.

Pluspunten:

The initial attraction to the software was the look. It's slick & clean & making visualizations is snappy & they look good with little tuning. That was a big selling point. The platform is built so that you can customize based on your needs & that's huge. Plus, the cost was a fraction of the largest competitor we reviewed.

Minpunten:

Customer Service can be a bit choppy. You can't "call in" for an answer, unless it's a quick one, if you need help troubleshooting something while you're in the thick of it - sorry, you need to schedule the time when things go wrong. There were other issues with being sold different licenses than what we used in our trial, with no clear understanding of the separation until after the fact. Debugging data errors, if you're working with alot of data can be a NIGHTMARE.

HR metrics & Dashboards powered by Exago

Opmerkingen: The embedded architecture of Exago with our HRIS, allows getting HR data on real time and from a unique integrated source.

Pluspunten:

The MS Excel look like grid in the report designer provides a great flexibility when it comes to creating a myriad of complex formulas to show as KPIs and metrics or as references to to other coordinates in the report. In addition to the ability of showing or hiding the intermediate calculations The feature of ExpressViews is time savy and allows users with no profound BI skills to intuitively and easily create ad-hoc lists and reports. The scheduler feature helps generating reports, summaries and lists, and send them automatically to specific recipients on a predetermined frequency. Not all users have access to the overall population headcount so the scheduler is the solution, taking into consideration , of course, the nature and confidentiality of data to be sent. The inheritence of security profile from the HRIS which make it easy to apply proper user capabilities for employee, manager and SME portal.

Minpunten:

I would like to be able to override in the join feature the original joins’ types that are setup in the views in the HRIS.

Great Company, Fantastic Customer Support

Opmerkingen: Logi's approach to me as a customer has made me feel like part of the family, they are approachable and friendly at all levels. Besides having a great product, the outstanding Customer and Technical Support is one of the main reasons why we retain them.

Pluspunten:

Embeddable - Logi Studio expedites development. Most basic reports can be written in minutes and published via drag and drop in seconds. Customer Support - Logi respond to all questions and problems I encounter in a timely manner, in fact they often go beyond what I expect and provide. These are dealt with at the Technical Account Manager level without having to open a case number.

Minpunten:

Nothing comes to mind... Nope, still nothing!

Great tool for your BI toolbox

Opmerkingen: We have been using Dundas BI for over a year now and everyone loves it. The visuals look good,are very customizable and the data loads quickly. We utilize this tool embedded in SharePoint using a SharePoint WebPart, as well as in our custom apps utilizing an iFrame.

Pluspunten:

Quick time to market - drag and drop excel sheet for instant analysis, connect to SQL (including SSAS) easily for quick browsing of data. The tool can be customized to meet our needs.

Minpunten:

No out of the box funnel chart - I really had to think about a con, I couldn't think of anything I don't like about Dunas BI

Dundas BI - If you don't have it, get it...

Opmerkingen: We have been a partner with Dundas BI for almost two years, since the initial release of the product. We were searching for a BI offering to present to our clients and stumbled upon Dundas almost by accident. Good thing we did. In hindsight, choosing any product other than Dundas BI would have been the wrong choice. The architecture of Dundas BI uses HTML5, CSS and JavaScript - no legacy technology here. The product is can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud, includes multi-tenant functionality, includes out-of-the-box connectors to an array of data sources, allows for ETL in the application, gives developers granular control over most design elements, the dashboard features are almost limitless and the support team is outstanding.

Pluspunten:

Flexibility and functionality.

Minpunten:

I'll never fully exploit the capabilities of the software - it's simply too massive.

Dundas BI: It's good but not quite there yet

Opmerkingen: Overall, Dundas BI is a very good BI software. Their API's are great for integration and customization. However, there are still some room for improvement.

Pluspunten:

The APIs are very extensive and has a great potential to do custom configurations.

Minpunten:

There are still some features that they need to optimize. One would be the connection to SSAS tabular model, they are still using MDX instead of DAX. Another would be the way they export to Excel is a bit slow for bigger datasets.

A great tool for creating pixelperfect dashboards.

Pluspunten:

The strength of this software (compared to other software for dashboard) is its ability to create graphics, KPIs and totally pixel perfect objects. On other software that I use often I have difficulty in satisfying the client's graphic requests, through Dundas the problem does not arise, indeed it is possible to edit every single object in the smallest detail.

Minpunten:

In my opinion the interface is not very attractive, the graphs are functional and clear (which is what we need in practical terms) but could improve a bit 'the graphic aspect that I think is still a bit' too "simple". Even the use is not the easiest initially, you have to acquire a little 'knowledge of the software but nothing too difficult.

Powerful Business Intelligence and Reporting

Opmerkingen: Exago is relatively easy to use if you are building simple and quick reports, but it can get pretty complex if trying to build any type of advanced reports. Functionality is strong, but there are a few small things that are not built in that I would have thought would be included out-of-the-box. Exago is making good updates to their product and their customer support team has been helpful. Although our company probably doesn’t leverage them as much as we should. The product has scaled well too for our needs and we would definitely recommend it.

Pluspunten:

Drag and drop functionality makes building reports a snap and the designer pages support a robust set of tools for producing professional reports. All in all, a great way to start building reports and querying data effectively without the need for coding.

Minpunten:

Would have liked to see more involvement from Exago when we first integrated the product with ours. Our development team would benefit from more complete implementation and technical support documentation too.

Flexible, Customizable, and a Great Investment Return

Flexibility in design,

Opmerkingen: I am developer and implementer of Dundas BI. I rememered how we choosed dundas from 10s of options for to many aspects like flexibility to do whatever you want , variety of data sources and the open API. Moreover, the price od dundas is reasonable comparing to the features that it provides and cheaper comparing to other products in the market.
Later on, our requirements increased but dundas BI was flexible enought so we did all them. In dundas BI, think what to do rather than how to do it or if it is doable or not.
One year later, dundas become the central portal for every department including Executives ,IT, sales, and marketing. By giving other departments small training on dundas bi, they started to build their reports and dashboards, our role was to prepare the connection to databases and the data cubes only.
Dundas Support team are great and reply to any query withen same day. I liked their support because they are ready to help in building java scripts that solve or do my requests or to to provide solutions to issues which were sometimes related to OS or the database.

Pluspunten:

Flexibility in design, variety of charts and data sources, open API and the great dundas support

Minpunten:

No 3D charts even it is clear to me that 3D is not professional but some people just like to see it.
